In a normal year, about 3 million people die in America. Do you have any rational facts to indicate the the death totals went up to 3.5 million people?

Any rational person can recognize the point being made that Covid is not necessarily a large independent contributor to the annual death total.

Much of that recognition should also center on the fact that Covid is largely a disease that attacks the old and the infirmed. Wouldn't a rational person take that into account when deciding public policy regarding protecting the public? For example, is it rational to run chemo through an entire body to fight cancer if it can be targeted directly to only the part of the body that has the cancer?

It would be nice if we actually could have an honest, rational discussion on any subject without being canceled or censored. Instead, we just keep getting the same tired misinformation about how Trump wanted people to inject bleach and kneejerk charges of racist (yawn) when anyone tries to link the virus to China.

And no I am not a doctor, but in addition to being intelligent, I have a daughter who works in a dementia/alzheimer facility and keeps me informed about the deaths they suffer and the course of their passing.

That was never the issue. The major issue revolves around having a balanced approach that doesn't destroy business, or keep children out of school for years, or lead to suicides, depression, divorce, financial ruin, drug addictions, drug deaths, an increase in other untreated diseases, etc. Another major issue involves letting different states try things in different ways since those are the people who understand their own needs and desires and the particular logistics of their own jurisdictions. That approach has also allowed us to learn much more about the disease than if Washington had ordered everyone to do the same things. It also showed that the states that closed shop and destroyed their mom and pop businesses didn't have any better results that the states that remained open. If Covid had been an equal opportunity disease, it would have been much harder to create a plan. Since it heavily targets very old and very sick, it allowed those who are highly susceptible to retreat from the crowd while other groups that are less susceptible for Covid than the flu to live their lives, at least in the states that remained open.

Trump responded very early and very quickly. Although he let states decide their own plan, the federal government did have very clear guidelines. Trump also quickly responded to the need for PPE, testing, and vaccine development.

It's obvious that you've been watching far too much hate television. Just out of curiosity, are you aware that Biden just opened the cages for kids that Obama originated? And are you aware that pre-Covid, in three short years, Trump policy had already caused the black, Hispanic, and Asian American unemployment rate to drop to the lowest level in American history. Black wages were rising faster than any other demographic group. The unemployment gap between blacks and whites was cut in half after decades of remaining stagnant. It's probably worth mentioning that Democrats have controlled every black neighborhood for at least the last fifty years yet you want to blame the people who have nothing to do with upside down policy that has destroyed the black neighborhoods.

Fact #1 was true at the time. What was unknown to all was that China had allowed the virus to circle the globe for months before telling the world.

Do you want us to pretend that the pandemic did not come from China or that China didn't let the disease run rampant for months before warning the world at the same time they were buying all the PPE around the world? Some nations are more conducive to American-type ideals based on individual rights (not group rights) and blind justice (not social justice), some less. Some nations are threats to America, some are supportive. Some nations unleash a worldwide pandemic without letting the rest of the world know for months, others don't. None of that has anything to do with race. We are one human race. Get used to it and stop playing race games.

If Biden takes responsibility, then he has already killed more than a hundred thousand people. Not to mention, he has just re-opened the cages for kids at the border that Obama originated. His policies have created a problem of unaccompanied children crossing the border seven times greater than it ever was during the Trump administration. by the time Biden took over, the problem had been largely solved. Are you aware of how common it is for young girls to be raped on their trip to America? The coyote get paid by the people they escort, then they are paid by gangs to come rape the girls. Your hatred doesn't just extend to conservatives. The results of your policy prescriptions also have to be considered. You can start with the simple fact that Democrats have controlled every black neighborhood in America for at least the last fifty years.
