I just ordered the Unlocked S20 Ultra 5G 512GB/16GB RAM US Version. Got myself some free Galaxy Buds+ and will give my once used OG Galaxy Buds to my wife. Very excited for this. Will be my last phone for a long time though for sure. Already have my case and am also waiting on Whitestone to ship the glass screen protector.

Now I eagerly await March 5th.

What kind of idiots does Samsung have running this shitshow that they have NOBODY in sales available during a pre-order launch? They for whatever reason initially put the UK as my location and nobody was there to fix it, so I had to cancel and do it all over again, THREE times. Third time I just charged my card instead of PayPal. Just noticed and not that I'm complaining. This third time the Tax is $10 cheaper? How did that happen?

T4rd • 4 years ago

Damn, I can get any S20 variant for half off and tax free and still aren't sure I'm going to buy one, lol. Couldn't imagine paying $1400+ for a device that will be EOL'd in 2-3 years, esp. before reviews are out to find any potential defects or issues (reception, speakers, audio recording quality, etc... stuff you don't know until it's out). I could almost justify that for an iPhone that's supported for 5+ years though if I was already on that side of the camp.

MicroNix • 4 years ago

My 4 year old S7 is still getting updates, both security and other Samsung parts. You EOL’d in 2 - 3 years is FUD.

T4rd • 4 years ago

Your 4 year old S7 is stuck on a 2 year old OS still and got its last security update around August-October 2019 depending on the variant. Learn what FUD is too.

MicroNix • 4 years ago

You should really get facts before uttering garbage you don't have the slightest clue about. Everyone knows the S7 has gone to quarterly updates now. Mine is on December's security patch. If you don't believe it look up the roms on Sammobile. Now what is it you were foolishly saying about August to October again? Your misinformation spreading fear, uncertainty and doubt over Samsung's supposed lack of updates is nothing more than *FUD*.

T4rd • 4 years ago

Are you the next Richard Yarrel? Lol.. So vehemently passionate about defending your precious Samsung. Regardless, no major OS updates past 2 years is garbage at this price point, and I'd argue the same for Pixels as well stopping at 3 years for how overpriced they are as well for their lack of hardware.

EOL may have been the wrong term, but it's still not FUD to say they could still improve long term support at these prices, like Apple does. Samsung even has their own chipset to use if they wanted to.

MicroNix • 4 years ago

Not Yarrel at all. Just correcting misinformation. Just because a phone stops getting major updates after 2 years doesn’t mean it becomes unsupported. Not in the least. Not only is the S7 still getting security updates, components like the gallery app and other small, decoupled, but essential components of every day use are still being updated as well. You know well that “major” Android updates are not like Apple updates which tend to be feature filled. And while the Pixel for example gets some goodies in major updates (which half the time are catch up to what other OEMs already have) those types of goodies are either already in the other OEM’s builds or delivered independently of the OS update.

MicroNix • 4 years ago

Got the ultra myself along with the buds, 45w charger and a extra regular charger. Had only 3 cents of store credit left after that.

After seeing the zoom shots on AC, I'm pretty excited to see what this thing can do!

Avieshek • 4 years ago

Screen Grab this and mention at Twitter.

mcdonsco • 4 years ago

Why'd they get stingy with the storage this year? Note 10 standard was 256gb, 6 months later the S is half that?

...seems like Samsung is taking a page out of Google's book these days. Then $200 to the next option?

Nope.

K01D57331 • 4 years ago

$700 for Note10 trade in and $235 in Samsung credit.

S20 Ultra 5G for $699

$1,600+ S20 Ultra and accessories but only paid roughly $730.

SyCoREAPER • 4 years ago

I wish I could have parted with my S10 5G but couldn't justify giving up a pristine phone for $700. Will make a nice gift for my mom or dad though instead.

Judging by the $ number you have listed, I assume you went with the 512GB model or did you get a multiple accessories?

K01D57331 • 4 years ago

The new buds and the rugged case I got with the Samsung store credit.

BobbyG • 4 years ago

Where were you going to get $700 for the S10 5G? I don't even see it in the list of phones eligible for trade. Just S10 and S10+

SyCoREAPER • 4 years ago

It's there but Oh shit! Only $310? I thought I saw $700, guess not That's a fucking insult.

BobbyG • 4 years ago

Yep.. Not sure what Samsung is thinking. Most expensive and latest released S10 not even on the freaking list of available trade-ins.

mcdonsco • 4 years ago

Except if you bought new you paid $1,150+ for the Note 10+ in the first place, unless you did a trade in on that too, but, then same applies, just earlier.

Call me pot or kettle, your choice, but I'll be doing that on the Note20 (don't care about the s pen, but like the more squared off Notes than the rounded off S series). But, the real value of my Note 10+ then will be significantly less than it is now and will likely still get the same (better?) $700 for it then.

My only concern? Just read a rumor today the Note20 may have a "waterfall display"...God I hope not.

K01D57331 • 4 years ago

I traded in a Note9 that I got for $800 during holiday season. I got $600 for trade in and $200 in accessory credit. So it basically came out to a wash at that time.

K01D57331 • 4 years ago

Hi again Mr Black Kettle,
If my memory is correct, when the Note20 drops you should still get $700 for the Not10(+). Last year they gave $600 for Note9 during S10 launch and $600 for the Note10 launch too.

SyCoREAPER • 4 years ago

S20 has almost no curve compared to the S10

androwin • 4 years ago

It has WiFi 6 but nowhere mentioned if it's
MU-MIMO 2x2, 4x4 or 8x8 like the Mi 10 (as Xiaomi claims at least)?

SyCoREAPER • 4 years ago

Here is the WiFi chip it uses. Says MU-MIMO 2x2 with RSDB
https://www.qualcomm.com/me...

2x2 is disappointing, it makes sense but 8x8 is an unneeded strain of resources.

For those that want to read about:
MIMO -- https://www.duckware.com/te...
WiFi6 -- https://www.duckware.com/te...

androwin • 4 years ago

Thanks for the detailed info

8x8 is useful when transferring files to external fast storage that's connected to 8x8 USB 3.0-enabled router, especially for a phone that lack fast USB 3.0 like the Mi 10

Ammar • 4 years ago

Which router has a fast enough USB 3 port to make use of 8x8 transfer speeds to connected storage devices? Most routers top out at around 100MB/s on their USB 3 port.

androwin • 4 years ago

But even at that speed it's still better than achieving half of it with WiFi AC, I usually transfer a lot of files from my phone to my external storage so a bit more of speed would be helpful a lot in my situation, besides, routers are getting better year by year so owning a phone with faster WiFi means future proofing

androwin • 4 years ago

Nevermind, it turned out even that Xiaomi Mi 10 has 2x2 WiFi only because SD865 chipset doesn't support 8x8 setup according to the following source:

https://www.gizchina.com/20...

Now can we even trust Huawei's upcoming P40 Pro about the WiFi 6(+)? Reviewers should do the tests but unfortunately nobody care about WiFi speed it seems.. they only do internet speed tests not the MAX speed of the local link between devices.

My carrier is charging me $899 for a S20 Ultra 512GB... IF I subscribe to a 12GB $125 monthly plan. For 2 years hahaha

OtisFeelgood • 4 years ago

Just completed my pre-order.

Alvin • 4 years ago

Just wait 2 months and save a few hundred.... As is tradition

K01D57331 • 4 years ago

The deals are better at launch. Can you show me better deals 2 months after the Note10 and S10 were released?

mcdonsco • 4 years ago

Agreed, with Sammy best deals are at pre-order, with Google Pixels it's 2-3 months later.

Avieshek • 4 years ago

Maybe for in US but the rest of the world as in Eurasia, it's pretty much nil.
I pre-ordered the S10+ top-tier last time but had lot's of conditions and eventually didn't get the Galaxy Buds as it has to be received by the Store Seller than direct at my home address. So, what Alvin says is pretty much true and 'm never pre-ordering a Samsung device. They also have strange issues, one that someone as SyCoREAPER finally says being one of them.
Would let pass one year and atleast have the X60 Modem, since at the prices, I'll be keeping for long-term use as well.

Majesticthe1 • 4 years ago

Like in 50% off like they did for pixel 4? I'm in!

The Lisan al Gaib • 4 years ago

I see a package deal on Amazon, the Ultra with buds and a wireless charger. is it confirmed that you'll still get the Samsung credit as well? Amazon doesn't say on the site and it won't let me post the question either.

Erik Wolf • 4 years ago

I preordered mine for AT&T from Sam's Club. I'll get the $100 samsung credit for ordering the S20 regular variant, and another $200 sam's club e-gift card for pre-ordering through them

TattoozNTech • 4 years ago

Please list the down payments & monthly payments for T-Mobile Jump On Demand customers. Those are always different than the straight purchase numbers.

Richard • 4 years ago

I ordered from Samsung and got an additional 10% cash back on top of their existing goodies! Their cashback % fluctuates - On top of the $235 off the S20 Ultra, I got a whopping $87.12 coming at the end of the month! https://www.rakuten.com/r/R...

Jason Coen • 4 years ago

$235 credit and $300 trade in on S9+ Free case and Galaxy buds+ Yep. I'm in!

E.B • 4 years ago

I have verizon, i don't care about the 5G stuff (Ill end up getting a new phone in a year anyways) will the unlocked just work with 4g? like my S10?

Droid22 • 4 years ago

Yes, but the 5G is built in. Verizon doesn't have the standard S20 5g

The Lemmings running over the high-priced cliff just to drown in the deep waters of debt for a cell phone? LOL
