Worked for me and I'm not in the US. Now wating for the shipping.
Did it twice with two different cards and my sisters address. It was worth the $14 risk but I have not been charged anything but the $1 so far.
I did it twice with two different cards and the same address. You only give your address to the Google Store, and Google doesn't care if Spotify is footing the bill.
cant you use the same card on a different account?
If you use the same card, it tells you that you don't qualify for the $1 trial period deal.
Worked for me! Only charged .99, canceled plan as soon as I ordered my mini.
How long did it take you to receive that second email?
Nice, annoyed me that the guys at AA don't know that once the order is placed it's basically just like ordering from Google Express, you are ordering from them. Even then, most if not all free trials can be canceled right away and not go away until when you would have been charged.
If you, like me, are struggling to receive emails from Spotify:
1) Confirm that your account information page shows that you do indeed have the Spotify Premium for Families plan 2) Use this link to get your Google Home. https://www.spotify.com/us/...
Thanks dude, this worked for me!
US only. You should mention that.
Damn. I'll wait for something like this for Europe I guess
Won't happen.
Yeah cuz Europe never has good deals right
Yep, not even Canada, wasted my time.
Canada is fictional...
Yeah, that obviously should be in the title - otherwise it's borderline misleading (if not actually false). Another author that has no clue (or atleast acts as such) that Android Authority is available - and has a ton of readers - outside US (actually only about 30% of its visitors are from US). I wonder how and why these articles (and the titles) are approved the way they are...
To conclude, the title is false for approximately 70% of AA readers.
It says US only in the article:
Before we begin, there are two major limitations to this deal: the first is that you must be a new Spotify Premium subscriber. If you currently (or used to) pay for any variation of Spotify Premium, you will not be eligible for this deal. The other limitation is that this is for U.S. customers only.
You just need a new email address and credit card number to be eligible for the deal, if you are a US customer
There wasn't about US customers only at start.
Still works, just ran the whole process successfully, including the 'scary part' where a $14.99 charge magically changes into a 2 month Premium for Family trial. All colors except coral were still available. Also, there is a slow default option for shipping the mini that is free,(scheduled to arrive around Dec. 31st). I was not charged tax, so the whole thing truly ran me $1 ... Until February 1st, when trial ends.
Ty Mr. I still had the 3 mos in my head and had scheduled ending it after such lololol
But the question is why is google or spotify allowing this?
May be to create a monopoly over other competitive devices?
i'm from India and have just ordered. I have used VPN and connected to USA server and signed up in Spotify as an USA Account. Once done, you need USA Credit Card to place an order(Spotify is not allowing Indian credit card nor via PayPal). Luckily my friend is in USA and he gave his address and card details. Try this ASAP since google home mini is running out of stock. if you get message saying its out of stock or if its not taking directly to account checkout page try multiple times it should work.
Worked for me as well. I also almost immediately cancelled and it said that my premium plan would expire in February after I cancelled, so I don't think you need to wait to cancel
You don't same goes for many other free trials, including In-App Purchases on iOS and Amazon
Next time please warn us that this a US-only deal. It would have saved us some hope.
You should start mentioning US only!!!!! This is too much. Happens all the time. Be specific
Why don't you guys invent your own Google then? They're a US company.
Please don't stress your pea little brain. Even they realised their mistake and corrected the article. Go invent your Google in your sandbox
Hey, Scott... You owe me 2 bucks...
Promotion is DEFINITELY OVER! I did it a while ago and I am getting mine soon, my friend tried it yesterday but it said that the promotion is over. cscottbrown could you edit the article to say this?
my friend has suggested this article to me. It has worked for him. However, it has not for me. Maybe I am not lucky :)
i think this post should be deleted now. its not working. plus .99 loss for me :P
doesn't work for me :(
i followed the spotify steps but never received an email to redeem a free home mini. nor did i find such a link on the link the author provided..
is this promotion over?
seems to have worked for me. My wife did it too. However our minis have not shipped yet. Anyone else having this issue? Im wondering if Spotify is shutting this down.
White and Charcoal usually ships within 24-48 hours. From what I've read the aqua doesn't ship out as fast for some reason even though Google Store says they are in stock.
Figures. Me and my wife both picked Aqua. Do you know where you read that about the ship times for the different colors?
My sister has an order from Saturday for Aqua that hasnt ship yet. My order for a chalk on Monday has already shipped. Chalk and Charcoal seem to be shipping faster.
My order for some reason says will be delivered on 8-10th Jan, yet to be shipped
Hello. This offer is actually for existing customers as well. I've used spotify for about 3 years now, and just recieved my Google home mini this morning.
You dont get the 99c trial if you are a paying member already, you get the Mini for 14.99 for a month of Family plan
I'm aware of that. The author of the post stated that it was for new members only. It's also available for existing members of spotify who've opted for the premium membership. I've been a premium member and also recieved the free gift.
I don't know how you did it (maybe Spotify caught on!!!) but I got totally screwed on this!
Followed your directions, signed on for Family, and was charged only $0.99 - but never got the "free mini" email. So I canceled. Within one day later got the mini email but was told I had to pay $14.99 as I was on Family. Long, loooong chat with Spotify but they wouldn't budge! UGH! Maybe this is why I like Pandora and not Spotify! Pandora gives you what they advertise and keeps their promise.
Probably because you cancelled so quickly. Had 2 free months, why bother cancelling the same day? Many people said it took a little while to get the email.
I cancelled because I got an email (from my PayPay) saying on Family I was also being charged 14.99 + 99 + $1 !!! Sounded fishy so I cancelled.
And I wasn't sure what "little while" might be.
UPDATE:
Spotify claims the offer is NOT available from them; that it is only available via AndroidAuthority; that the only offers from them are on THEIR site. See following email from Spotify:

Weird. I've done it 3 separate times and have only been charged .99 each time.
How do I cancel it?
Just to confirm this works. 3:00PM CST 12/6/18
awesome!! Went thru flawlessly. I had the $35.00 mini smart kit in my cart on Google express from Best Buy with 20% off just before I found this. Saved me $30. Hope it does not get cancelled. Thank You Thank You
