I'm confused. Instead of interviewing the illegal immigrants, why doesn't this journalist take them all home and care for them indefinitely?

Instead of storming the fencing of another nation, why don't they storm their own governments? An organized resistance against vile warlords might even garner foreign aide. I don't pretend to think any of this is easy - but there has to be better choices.
