Why does UNRWA still exist? It was founded 76 years ago to support muslims who said that Israeli Jews drove them from their homes. Many of them didn't go very far, walking about 20 miles from Jewish controlled areas to muslim ones. It is not clear how thoroughly claims of being a "refugee" were investigated, and what the true number of refugees was. UNRWA was allowed to let "refugee" status be passed on to all descendants of refugees (through the male line.) So today, we don't even know how many of the original "refugees" are still living (supposedly less than 30,000, all of whom were children when they left.) Unbelievably, the vast, vast majority of today's "refugees" are people who have never even set foot in Israel, but instead, one of their eight great grandfathers was an original refugee.
