But the most important question is, can he focus sunlight with that lens to set bits of confetti on fire? If so, it'd make a great camping gadget.

Green Lantern stole a lot from LensMan, I mean the original source material from the 1920's. Star Wars, Buck Rodgers or anything with space marines or intergalactic military.

This is not a bad anime. It was actually very well animated and designed for the time it was made. And we're talking about the lower-budget made-for-tv rendition. Even still, I can understand why Doc E.E. Smith's family hated the anime so much: the story is very loosely adapted from the books and the characters barely resemble their book counterparts in both appearance and personality. There's also the fact that the entire series was too 80s for its own damn good.

Wow...I've just done watching the movie a couple weeks ago, and this is WAAAY different and outright TRIPPIER than the movie is. This is definitely worth of watching through, since it differs from the movie quite a lot and doesn't redo it frame-by-frame or scene-to-scene. It generally follows the same plot with premise, but pretty much nearly everything else is drastically different/alternative from the movie.

I can't even call this a "TV adaptation of a movie", rather than downright "alternate take"/"what if..." approach to it. It's like this is a parallel universe/timeline from the one in the original movie. It's like comparing FF VII to FFVIIR (the requel). Very different experiences in both.
