Wow the PM must have read my google-plus comments weeks ago when I stated Putin is trying to re-establish the Soviet Union. People are slow.

Russian Food Import Ban Could Cost EU 5 Billion Euros a Year.

http://www.themoscowtimes.c...

EU, it's time to start heating with apples and tomatoes.

Key Point • 9 years ago

I recall some insisted here on almost accomplished fact of France to have delivered a Mistral warship to Russia. It's not that I have a gloat but... Mr Putin has to say goodbye to his money and such a desired assault weapon. As I expected actually.

FunkyFreddy2k • 9 years ago

Terms of the contract say the penalty for France is the complete cost of the ships.

What happens if they do not pay I do not know - some investers may see it as a default I suppose?

Key Point • 9 years ago

If RF is regarded as a terrorist state and all the trade between EU and RF is halted, which is no doubt a matter of time, then France will have no obligations to Russia. Of course, Russia will squall and demand money back, but in fact all RF is able to do is to invade France (like in Crimea) and seize its money back, which is quite a dangerous stunt as long as France has nuclear weapon to protect itself. So, there will be a huge risk for Russia to be ashed by French nukes just like they announced earlier in thier media speaking about US.

FunkyFreddy2k • 9 years ago

I'm sure there is still a whole lot of diplomatic options in between "squalling" and invading.

Maybe Russia could bend China's arm to impose some sanctions on France - that could make France reconsider pretty quickly.

Or more likely Russia will just turn the gas off and the whole of Europe will be screwed.

FunkyFreddy2k • 9 years ago

Latest rant by the crazy right wing resigned many weeks ago but going nowhere it seems PM Yats:

"We are starting the Wall project, the building of real state border between Ukraine and Russia”

So they're planning on building a new berlin wall. I wonder how many years before it comes down?

I assume they're thinking more along the lines of the highly successful (from israels point of view) wall in Israel rather than Germany though. Still, nice to see they're using our IMF money for good use.....

oh Estonia lol a population of 1,400 ,000 and 400, 000 are ethnic Russians lol

krisztiant • 9 years ago

Why is Estonia 'lol'?

E.g. in the US more than 3 million ethnic Russians are living (and many other 'ethnics' too, who escaped from the Russian oppression in the former communist bloc, aligned with the USSR).

Does this mean that US is 'lol' too? Or does this mean that Russia should 'protect' the ethnic Russians in the US or even annex it as well?

oh no • 9 years ago

well south states will be back to Mexico sooner than later.....and your little story of emptiness is funny though....by the way there is 5 million Russians in the US today.....

krisztiant • 9 years ago

You didn't happen to answer any of my questions, while my "little story of emptiness" is based on simple facts, nothing else, therefore, your comment is pointless (as always).

oh no • 9 years ago

American and EU are failing in todays world with big nations like Russia , china , India and others .....nobody cares for aging EU and America.....your lies and propaganda are a thing of the past....

krisztiant • 9 years ago

I am really sorry to face you with the reality, but here is your reality check:

In a 2007 news story, ABC News reported, "In a country [Russia] that lost more people defeating the Nazis than any other country, there are now an estimated 50,000 to 70,000 neo-Nazis, half of the world's total."

So, Russia has ca. half of the world's total neo-Nazis, consequently, the "American and EU Nazis" are just a tiny minority compared to the Russian neo-Nazis.

Reality hurts.

oh no • 9 years ago

wrong again Mr. American liar and propaganda it is the US with the highest neo Nazis and kkk in the world with 300,000+......go take your meds now.....

krisztiant • 9 years ago

As I already stated below in one of my posts, I am a citizen of the EU, and at the moment, even being in the EU as well.

As you did not provide any source, I don't wish to address your 'facts', and as we already know, I am not American too.

oh no • 9 years ago

your in the EU enough said....go make some more old folks homes for your old aging EU nations LOL

krisztiant • 9 years ago

As your comment has no connection with any of my comments above, which you were supposed to reply, I just leave it this way: no comment.

The_Truth_Hurts2012 • 9 years ago

Damn,, no more facts.. liberals hate facts.

MacTurk • 9 years ago

It has been proved that so-called 'conservatives' are far and away the people who hate facts, preferring their little ideologies instead.

US citizens who mainly watch Fox News are far more ignorant than the rest of the population......

America stole Mexico's lands?
Where did Mexico get that land?

krisztiant • 9 years ago

Alright "oh no", some more reality check for you:

Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn (who is a Russian), claimed the true number of Stalin’s (who is a Russian too) victims alone might have been as high
as 60 million (about the whole population of the current UK).

And what makes this even worse (if it's possible even), that many of them were his own people i.e. Russians (and millions of Ukrainians as well).

He (Stalin) is only comparable to Hitler.

oh no • 9 years ago

you Americans really believe in your own lies and propaganda lol too funny go see a doctor and take some pills for your stress...

krisztiant • 9 years ago

This is one of the most ridiculous comments of yours, since I quoted a famous Russian about an even more infamous Russian (and I am not American as well)

Your comment is a total failure (as always).

oh no • 9 years ago

your the failure you western American Nazi lover lol

krisztiant • 9 years ago

Your last comment was an even bigger failure than any of the others. Congratulations.

The_Truth_Hurts2012 • 9 years ago

Im just gonna flag the troll.
Oh no is off his script. Seems like the internet is working in Russia again.

oh no • 9 years ago

nobody cares for American lies and propaganda anymore they are failing, them and the EU are nothing but a thing in the past....their sanctions have done zero damage to Russia and others but it did affect the EU big time.....

MacTurk • 9 years ago

Oh dear, yet another troll for whom reality is far, far, FAR away.

Your claim that "...their sanctions have done zero damage to Russia..." is slightly contradicted by the collapse in GDP figures since the annexation of the Crimea, and then introduction of EU/US sanctions.

Regardless of sanctions and their impact, Russia continues to be a gangster state, run by a thug, administered by a kleptocratic bureaucracy, with an economy utterly dependent on commodity exports. Socially, it has seen life expectancy drop since the collapse of communism, its population and birthrate are shrinking, and the main cause of male death is alcohol related.

On current statistical trends, Russia is THE candidate to become "...but a thing in the past...".

oh no • 9 years ago

it didn't do nothing to Russia ....and I am not Russian......and your American lies and propaganda are nothing but a fail in todays world....

MGSfan • 9 years ago

This ceasefire is great news. At this point, it is about the people and not about the EU or Russia expanding their spheres of influence, there are lots of people in desperate need of aid, they just need to learn to put aside their ideologies and provide humanitarian aid to the people there.

FunkyFreddy2k • 9 years ago

There is no ceasefire..... its all propaganda lies again by Kiev.

Taken from a live blog elsewhere:

18:26 GMT:
Donetsk is once again without water, after shelling hit a sanitation plant in the city. According to the Donetsk City Council, “At 20.30 (Moscow Time) shelling hit the water purification plant, and water is no longer getting to the water pipes.” The press service also stated that repairs could not take place because of the constant bombardment, which makes it too dangerous to be fixed. At present, fighting is taking place in Yasynovata, just north of the city.

Guys, read Rasmussen's 2003 speech. He was not NATO chief back then, he was prime minister of Denmark. He said that the war with Iraq is just because WMD were found there. He did not mention the results of inspection commission which were published before his speech of no WMD there at all. Rasmussen was liar back then, he is liar now.

ram2009 • 9 years ago

Well suited for the post of NATO chief.

cheetah43 • 9 years ago

Today Obama congratulated Estonia for its good work in Afganistan. Poor tiny little Estonia! For the sake of being in Nato it has to fight USA's war in Afganistan. For whose benefit? To be told that it may have some EU troops ordered to circulate on its lands scaring Russia? His speech was full of rubbish, patronising.

FunkyFreddy2k • 9 years ago

Maybe Estonia should do what Scotland are planning on doing - being a member of NATO but have pretty much no military capability of their own to contribute to NATO.

Guest • 9 years ago
MacTurk • 9 years ago

As Estonia, as well as Latvia & Lithuania, the other Baltic republics, is a member of NATO, your assertion that "Worst part is America wouldn't lift a finger" can best be described as ignorant nonsense.

Any attack by Russia would AUTOMATICALLY be cause for the invocation of Article 5 of the NATO treaty, which states that ANY attack on ANY NATO member is an attack on all.

krisztiant • 9 years ago

Estonia is not only member of the NATO, but member of the EU as well.

If Russia does want it back, it has a big mission ahead.

richardb49 • 9 years ago

Not true Estonia is a NATO memeber

Moderator • 9 years ago

Western leaders played the NATO coup game in Kiev. It backfired - Crimea ACCEDED to Russia as a direct result and manifestly celebrated doing so.
Western leaders, for God's sake, live with it, stop the killing.
This is not WW2 and Hitler; but by escalating it and sending troops so you can have your precious NATO 'defence shield' on Moscow's doorstep, we may end up with WW3. If you can't be concerned about that, think what it would do to your own assets.

daviddb • 9 years ago

At last ...

The EU, NATO and the US are wide awake.

The sanctions are going to squeeze you, ...

You fell for NATO's trap. Now let's see you extricate yourself from the mess you're sitting in right now.

Pull out your troops Putin! And when and if you do, you're still going to be slapped with sanctions! LOL

SUCKERED THEM AGAIN • 9 years ago

Call in the Vietnamese toi sort out the yanks!

daviddb • 9 years ago

I love freedom-loving Americans.

Putin? He's a piece of sh*t; a throw-back from the failed backward Soviet empire.

Alec • 9 years ago

NATO has bombed those countries who could not defend themselves: Serbia, Livia, Iraq, Afghanistan. NATO, as much as it would be happy to, can not bomb Russia. Because that would mean start of WWIII and the end of this civilization. So the only option on a table is sanctions. Unfortunately, as history showed, the more you press Russia, the stronger it becomes. Do not count on sanctions, my russophobic friend.

daviddb • 9 years ago

Russia is strong? What BS!

Let me see you defend the integrity of Putin based on his current actions.

SUCKERED THEM AGAIN • 9 years ago

What has Russia done wrong?
A referendum & Crimea votes to join Russia?

daviddb • 9 years ago

Read all of this thread and you'll see my unwavering opinion of Putin and the reasons why I have that opinion.

I hate what the man represents: dishonesty and an addiction to lies.

Guest • 9 years ago

Unlike our esteemed leaders (choke!)

daviddb • 9 years ago

Putin is the epitome.
