Screw the big banks, I use a credit union.

memeandpapa3 • 5 years ago

What would happen if all the conservatives who bank with Chase unilaterally took out all savings banking accounts, etc out of their banks?

howardroark0007 • 5 years ago

Banks are private institutions, and as such have the right to decide who their customers will be. But in my opinion, denying service based on political affiliation is business suicide. Does Chase really want to lose half or more of its clientele? I'll bet the people behind this stupidity will be walking the streets soon looking for work.

ProDeo04 • 5 years ago

Chase absolutely has the right to do this. This is no different than a baker refusing to bake a cake for an event that they have a moral objection to, so long as they let the customer withdraw or transfer their funds. The balance to that is that I have a right to take my business elsewhere. I quit doing business with Chase several years ago for other reasons. This just reinforces my decision.

formerlyRM • 5 years ago

Banks I have DUMPED for their stupid policies: Wells Fargo-'98, Bank of America-'00, Chase-'05, Compass-'08, and the most recent, Bank of the West, who got a brick through their front window of their branch in Lander, WY last summer (wasn't me, honest!) the day after their CEO, Nandita Bahkshi announced they would no longer do business with mining, petroleum or firearms industries.

Perfectly satisfied with 2 different Credit Union accounts for all our banking needs.

Take ur money & run • 5 years ago

Chase Bank has been up to its eyeballs in massive corruption & market manipulation legal cases for decades. They can hardly claim the moral high ground here. So seeing as they have much more in common with the Liberals that have decreed infantacide & every other despicable criminal thing we’ve seen them do since the 2016 election cycle I would say that it’s an honour to have Chase bank reject you. It means you’re a decent person!
& of course they don’t want decent people with their bank.
The two are incompatible.
Take your money out & run!
It’s pointless pressuring congress about this.
They persecute their political rivals too. In case you haven’t noticed all the attacks & slander & public harassment of conservatives just watch your tv. Congress is the main problem.
You won’t get any joy there.

The Awful Truth • 5 years ago

Who would want their money in a nutty leftest bank anyways ? Take your money out of Chase. Now go sue the hell out of them for discrimination.

Guy • 5 years ago

This article is fanning the flames of over reacting and tribalism. We should be discussing ways to collaborate and learn from our differences.

Has anyone here actually had money taken from them? Rights? Been turned away by a legitimate business? You're just here with your chronic, unremitting butthurt over something somebody maybe said maybe happened. That's real righteous of you. Real Christian.

ignignokt4u • 5 years ago

It's called ostracism, and it's what civil societies do to people who are unpopular but don't actually break any laws. When conservatives stop denying climate science and torturing refugees and coddling dictators, perhaps they'll receive kinder treatment from the general population.

Kroniq • 5 years ago

They also have the alternative opportunity of just shutting the heck up and stopping complaining, and becoming tolerable human beings. I don't care what they believe, but I sure don't want to hear about it (or have conservative lifestyle SHOVED! DOWN! MY! THROAT!)

Freedom Rider • 5 years ago

In order to counter these situations effectively we need a lever, and we have it in the Declaration of Independence, i.e. "We hold these truths self evident......that if government (bankers included) become destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or abolish (them personally)". This gives small groups ( 1+ by defin ition of Websters D)legal right to alter and abolish those who put forth these policies. Government or quesi government (which includes banks, corporations, schools, as well as employees of the government). Yes, they can try to stop us but we are on extra firm legal ground here and we can also go after those who try that. We just have to stop being passive and do it ! accountabilityrevolution dot com is where you go for details, tactics and targets. DC

Ummmm..... A is A. Bankers /= government.

Why do you hate private enterprise?

fanofjesus • 5 years ago

first it was citibank-cutting off businesses that sell guns; we cancelled our card with them. Now I regretfully have to cancel my chase visa card, which has been a good card for us. Our bank, though, is a local credit union; I will find out if they have a credit card and if so, for which bank.

Marcella Covault • 5 years ago

In every generation, banks try to control customers according to the current "PC" dictates. Back in the 70s, I lost my husband in a car wreck. While I had had a credit card in my name before we married, I cancelled it and henceforth used a credit card in my husband's name. I asked the credit card company to put the card in my name since my husband had died, but they said I had to qualify first! I told them I'd been using the card for some time (year or so), and that I shouldn't have to qualify again. At the time, I was working part-time for an attorney and referred them to him also. Within a week, I had a card in my name. You have to fight to keep your rights from being controlled by those who want power over everyone!

Laurel • 5 years ago

That still happens to this day. It's gotten worse due to fraud.

How would they know a regular citizen is a conservative? They forgot money talks and BS walks.

curmudgeoninchief • 5 years ago

Who you buy stuff from. Who you send payments to. Who sends you money.

If you are a gun shop, it's automatic. If you are a gun dealer, it's automatic.

The bank has access to all that information if they want it. It's just a matter of what they want to do with it.

Laurel • 5 years ago

They are targeting those in the public eye thus attempting to force comforty of others or just squelch free speech.

Laurel • 5 years ago

Complacency runs deeper and longer than Hawkins references. This being done because conservatives for decades did their stupid silent majority crap and swallowed the labels 'evil', 'fascist', 'Nazi', etc. It leads idiots like Chase and others will follow to make these decisions and think themselves justified.

And isn't this the height of hypocrisy? This is blacklisting. The very thing they still whine about 60 odd years later.

“Republicans in the Senate should demand that Chase executives come before them and answer some hard questions about targeting customers for their political views.“

For the past fifty years, the Republican Party has stood by and watched while the Democrats have moved the country steadily to the Left. Whenever a conservative movement — like the Barry Goldwaterites, the Tea Party or the Deplorables (Trump supporters) — has arisen to oppose the Left, the Republicans have helped the Democrats crush the movement.

The only thing the Republican Party is insterested in is protecting its own and its supporters fortunes from high taxes and funding the Military-Industrial Complex, which is the source of its ill-gotten wealth. In the nearly a century since FDR ushered in the New Deal and started the county down the path to socialism, the Republicans, when in power, haven’t eliminated a single government handout or lifted a finger to reduce the size and power of the federal government. Instead, on more than one occasion, they have led the effort to expand the welfare state and strengthen the felderal government’s grip on the population,

Ask the Republicans defend conservatives? You might as well ask Islamic terrorists to defend Jews or the KKK to defend African Americans.

Laurel • 5 years ago

You are correct. When a conservative is elected or even a president that wants to implement something conservative they get opposed by the so called conservative party. Two examples: 1) Reagan attempting to do away with Dept. of Education. 2) Bush 43 attempting to reform Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and his attempt to reform Social Security.

I don't know why we are surprised. Afterall we had idiots like McCain*, and still have a great many like him, who call themselves conservatives, campaign on conservative promises,, then do the opposite. It is corrupt and dishonest to say the least.

*I would dearly love to slap the beejeezus out of his idiot daughter peddling him like he some sort of saint.
