Ekurhuleni , every now and then, have blitzes at OR Tambo where they impound everything and anything that, by their judgment, doesn't appear to be valid i.t.o permits (even if the vehicle/s is not carrying any passengers). An obvious scare tactic. Why impound, if all the rest of the license requirements are in place ?

DOT should a create a separate division to deal with Tourism & Charter Wheel Operators in SA as it is not mafia-style operations like the Taxi industry. We are indeed a small industry servicing the tourism market and in some cases we also do Charters. However they should issue ONE permit for Charters & Tours for the Bus & Coach Operators servicing Corporates & Tour Operators and other institutions including Schools on field trips, sport events and tours. This is a niche market and there is place for everyone. However once a Bus company is registered as Tour & Charter Transport Operator they should issue an Annual permit (application to be submitted by email like we do annual permits with CBRTA) to include all vehicles registered in the Operator's name rather than per vehicle.
