It's a little misleading to call them useless if they only looked at cardio issues, strokes and early death. People take these supplements for other reasons too. Something might not rise to the level of death but still be a chronic health problem. If they want to totally discredit supplements, they're going to have to address those. If you're a woman, calcium supplements are often recommended for bone health. It's fine to say you should be getting that from food, but some of us, frankly, treat our bodies like a garbage pit. Yeah, I know, it's not cool to admit it, but there it is. For us immature/overworked/ and generally less than wonderful types, a multivitamin is like an insurance policy. Most of those don't work so great either, but I feel better with one, just in case.

It's possible this law would allow discrimination against people of any religion. If your belief is sincerely held, you could argue that you have a religious objection to Christian Fundamentalists (as many in mainline denominations do), or Mormons, or feminists. Remember that in Hobby Lobby, the Supreme Court upheld a very loose definition of what a religious organization is - a private company can be considered religious if its owners are. This law allows a religious organization to "discipline" its employees for their beliefs or set gender-specific rules for dress. So, spankings every Friday unless you show up to work in a thong.

It always includes breast feeding and any type of body-positive messages for women. Officially, no, but when it comes down to who complains, the anti-body, anti-female right-wingers will scream and cry over any depiction of breast-feeding, and so these sites, or any kind of female body-positivity, WILL come under attack. These sites will have to defend themselves, repeatedly - did I mention repeatedly? - and prove to moderators that they have a legitimate purpose. I would not be surprised if Google outsources moderation to the same underpaid, sexist, backward-thinking parts of the world that facebook does.

The woman in this story did a responsible thing by realizing she'd had too much to drink and telling her FRIENDS she needed to leave the party and go to bed. She was helped by FRIENDS to get to her room - three women and one man. After the three women left, the male FRIEND raped her. This crime was committed by someone she trusted to help her, whose help she sought, so that something bad would not happen. And this FRIEND did something bad to her, this FRIEND raped her. Clearly, while alcohol consumption is a factor, having male FRIENDS is a factor that needs to be addressed on campus.

Where there is a high percentage of false threats, it can serve to mask sincere threats. People who make false threats are thus providing cover for the few who intend to carry out a threat. Such behavior should be seen as aiding and abetting.

Gamer is not someone who plays games, it is an internationally recognized term of highest honor. If women could be gamers, all the male gamers' dicks would fall off. So anything even implying that women gamers exist is like declaring war on testosterone.

People using religion to discriminate against gays and lesbians have not read their New Testament. It says, "All have sinned." Even if you grant them the point that same-sex relations are a sin under their religion, their religion does not instruct them to discriminate against sinners. It tells them to love them. Simply put, God loves gays.

That same religion tells them "render unto Caesar what is Caesar's" - Jesus didn't allow special treatment for his own people but expected them to obey the laws of the land. He was very specific in that. Maybe it's constitutional to get a religious exemption form obeying certain laws, but it is not at all Christian.

Actually, Jesus said you should go into your closet to pray, not make a big spectacle of it in public (Matthew 6:6). So keeping prayer out of public schools is possibly one of the few "Christian" things we have in our society to be thankful for. Too bad adherence to scripture cannot extend to paying attention to those who are poor, sick, in prison, and in despair (like those Palestinians in Gaza must be right now).
