What's with that?

Re: Dropout rates rise in San Francisco schools

Anti-diversity and pro-ROTC. That's pretty much the takeaway from what you've said here. It's both offensive and not, because nobody really cares about ROTC and yet diversity is everywhere in SFUSD (a minority-majority city last I recalled). As far as publicity goes, everything SFUSD tries to do is keep things under wraps. Most notably the last time they got into a fracas over ROTC.

When I read comments like these, they just reek of folks that are out of touch. SFUSD is one of the worst districts in the state. And for that, and many other reasons, they deserve to get ripped. But for diversity? ROTC? Are you serious?

P.S. I'm an SFUSD product. Are you?

Re: http://andrewgraham.tumblr.com/post/7491511668

How random. This has nothing to do with your political post, but the image you've used here is something of artistic acclaim. I viewed this painting at the Museo del Prado in Madrid earlier this year. One of 15 or so pieces of classics the museum holds. Awesome choice of course for a political post because it had its own political subtext when it was created.

Re: Sports journalist hates it when reporters tell athletes to ‘talk about…’

Yeah, I really disagree. "Talk about" is a discussion starter. The easier it is to get non-talkative athletes to talk, the better. But that's not to say Bradley doesn't have a point here. There are a ton of reporters who have a difficult time coming up with original or probing questions. "Talk about" definitely falls into the category of surface-level journalism that I think Bradley is more concerned with here. However, I think he articulated it poorly.

Re: Five Things AOL’s Patch Is Doing Right - 10,000 Words

There's nothing at Patch mentioned in this article that others aren't doing elsewhere. I can not understand why you would include news tips. Every website in this country has a page for those. As far as transparency, I've read a number of these bios in Massachusetts and beyond that don't really answer the question. As a rule of thumb, journalists don't reveal whether they sport a D or an R. That goes for veterans of the craft and newbies that see a future beyond Patch.

Re: Drexel Makes Community College Transfers Easier

Now that's pretty cool. I'm wondering why some of the bigger junior colleges were left off the transfer agreement. Particularly, CCSF. Oh, and assist.org has been around forever but as you've already noted, it's only for the CSU and UC systems. Campus transfer centers are supposed to help with all other colleges. It really can be a tricky process that needs due diligence from both the student and his/her counselor.

Re: Weekend Recap Vegas Edition Pt 2

Dude, you need to post again.
