Seriously, people. Do you actually believe that it works? Do you refute science, logic and reason to blindly follow that guy on the internet that makes garage door hacks, hover boots and onion batteries? Why would you, when all the reasons he is wrong are right in front of you. You had to scroll past my post to make your own comments. Did you even read it?

Re: How to Hack Any Garage Door

Seriously people. This guy keeps feeding you shit and you just keep eating it. I will give you all a scientific explanation on how a real hack would work and why this won't.

First, how the remote works. As you can see in the video, this is a "row of switches" type remote. It has a row of DIP switches that set the code. To make a remote work with its corresponding garage door opener, you need to set the switches on the remote the same exact way as they are set on the door opener unit. Each switch has 2 positions, on or off. If there are 12 switches, there are 2^12 possible codes. That's 4096 codes. Each code has to be transmitted for about quarter of a second for the door opener to recognize it. Therefore, to transmit all the codes, it would take a MINIMUM of 1024 seconds, or 17 minutes. Even if you assume that you find the code halfway through the code cycle, that is still 8.5 minutes, not the 5-10 seconds shown in the video.

Also, there's the issue of the USB connection. As anyone who has tried to make a USB device knows, USB is very hard spec to work with. It requires highly precise timing circuits, as well as a controller to interface with the PC. A garage door remote contains none of these, and just connecting the wires to random points on the circuit will get you nowhere. In fact, if you hook the red wire to the positive terminal of the battery and the black wire to the board ground, that will put 9v into the USB port, which will most likely fry your motherboard.

This hack is possible, but it would require much more effort, equipment, time and skill to do.

Finally, most garage door openers do not use this kind of code system. They almost always use a rolling code system, which is almost impossible to hack.

Re: How to turn your iPod into a taser

None. It doesn't work. This "hack" is complete bullsh*t. Try some science and some common sense.

Re: How to build a lag switch. (Cheat in online games)

Yeah right. Any sane server would drop a user if it stopped receiving packets from it, especially XBox live and other really popular internet gaming service. Also, even if it didn't drop the user, the router / switch would drop the connection to the console, effectively stopping all data transfer. This "hack" (and I cringe to call it a hack) does about the same thing as unplugging your console from the internet while you're playing. But by all means, try it. Waste a cat5 cable, I don't really care. If anyone is stupid enough to believe these "hacks" (*cringe*), they deserve any problems that occur.
