Medical data research needs to change and keep up with the standard data protection business practices we all adhere to in the private sector. I think it's a great suggestion to have white hat hackers, data scientists and IT security professionals on the medical boards these people will help protect our data from misuse. The medical industry needs to wake up and come into the 21st Century of data management.

Re: Instagram influencers with larger following base see lower engagement - Digiday

This is an interesting article and thanks for sharing the data. I agree the sweet spot for influencer marketing is not coveting an expensive celebrity endorsement (this is very much old school 90s 00s marketing) but creating engagement with those real life influencers who offer valuable content, knowledge, expertise and engagement with a brand unlike an expensive
endorsement from a celebrity who has no real interest in the product they are endorsing they are just in it for the "money". Consumers are smart they see through those vailed brand endorsements by celebrities. Brands need to rethink their sponsorship and influencer strategies to search out those real life influencers and power fans. These are the true brand advocates who are less risky bets than a celebrity endorsement and are more valuable in terms of influencing the sales process.

Re: Hey Millennials, Your Mom Is About to Follow You on Snapchat

Personally I see no value for me in using Snapchat. I created an account last year and soon afterwards I deleted it. I found the UI to be too retro and basic plus the short expiry date on content serves as no purpose to me as I'm highly unlikely to be spending all my life on Snapchat looking out for content to appear when I can find the same content on other networks. I can see how this appeals to teenagers, hence the mass exodus of celebrities joining the network but from a B2B perspective I see it as useful as Foursquare which no longer has the usage rates it did a few years ago. I think it will die a slow death just as Foursquare and Swarm are currently doing unless one of the larger networks like Facebook or Twitter acquires it within the next six months. I think it would probably fit Twitter's business profile better and complement Periscope.

Re: 5 steps to launching a successful employee advocacy program

Nicely written! I would suggest a sixth step and that is "feedback from the users" so that the programme can develop in terms of content, ease of use, programme and tool improvements and return on investment. I would welcome your thoughts on that. Thanks! Expanding the character limit has advantages and disadvantages. The main advantage is that more content can be indexed by Google and has more meaning than 140 characters. The disadvantage is that some will use this as a way to spam content. As a content producer I think more characters would be an advantage that I would definitely welcome. 10,000 characters is an average blog post (800 to 1000 words). Turning Twitter into a Tumblr or Medium. I think people can't visualise what 10,000 characters looks like and see the value, so that's why there is so much doom and gloom with the proposed changed. Humans are creatures of habit most don't like change, but when change happens the majority appreciate the change. Good for Jack having the guts to make this radical change to Twitter. Change is good!

Re: PCR's top 50 women in technology | The latest news from the Computer and IT Industry | PC Retail

Thanks Joe, can you send me two copies of the magazine that features the Top 50 women in IT. I'd be interest to see what the brand tracking report said about the Swedish brand before this campaign started and then after the campaign has finished to see if this campaign has had an effect on the brand, either in a positive or negative way. Personally I do think that this could be potentially damaging to the country brand if there's no form of moderation, as it is giving a huge amount of power/influence for one individual to project their own thoughts to the world, which are not generally a nation's view. I guess we need see how this experiment pans out.

Re: 4 Online Contests Worth Looking Over

There are strict rules regarding linking a competition with Facebook. Anyone looking at developing a competition on Facebook should run this past your legal team first and check the terms and conditions on Facebook before launching as you could be in breach of Facebook's rules. People are using social media and in particular Twitter to track what's going on during an event, whether they are actively partaking or just watching from the side line. It is a great interaction tool for brands to engage and judge what the conversations are happening at an event, the key is to then utilise this intelligence to improve future event experiences.

Re: Twitter usage in Europe

Interesting to see that the biggest Twitter usage growth has come from the Middle East.
