Personally, i keep my credentials in an encrypted partition (ecryptfs) and symlink them into their proper locations. For instance, `~/.msmtprc` is really a symlink to `~/credentials/msmtprc` which in turn is encrypted using ecryptfs. This means that my credentials are "unlocked" as long as I'm logged into my computer, but if I were to lose it while travelling the credentials would be locked down. Which is Good Enough (tm) for me.

Re: tags

I just set up some git hooks which update my TAGS file and updated the post.

I thought cscope was mainly for C/C++?

Re: tags

Thanks! Having the tags file updated definitely makes a lot of sense. Until now, I've cheated by having a really simple shell alias, but a crontab definitely makes a lot more sense.

Re: testing

Not that I have any idea how you found this, but thanks anyway.

However, two developers could create migrations using the same sequence numbers. Rails moved to using datetime-strings instead of plain sequence numbers to prevent this. The migrations table will keep track of the datetimes instead of sequence numbers, and sorting the migration files will work just as well with dates as with sequence numbers.

So, instead of having
- 021-add_last_name_to_customers
- 021-add_shipped_at_to_orders

you'd have
- 201009021200-add_last_name_to_customers
- 201009020930-add_shipped_at_to_orders

Re: Tips for databasemigreringer

Bra innlegg!

Man får altså to migreringsscript med samme versjonsnummer.

Re: Jason's Tumblr, Got Gitorious Working In Ubuntu 9.10 Server

Wow, great stuff!

Re: The Exciter - Why You Should Deploy Your Next Application on Ruby 1.9 and a Rant in General

Alexander,
From my experience, Rake works perfectly with Ruby 1.9.1. There was, however, a warning emitted when running Rake, but Jim Weirich has fixed this long before it would become a problem. New Rake seems to be on its way: http://twitter.com/jimweiri...

Re: Smalltalk - an insanely great thing

Glad you found it useful!
