For the sake of knowledge, the girl was an editor for our school paper the Troy InVoice. I will not disclose her name for privacy reasons. As far as we have been informed her injury was not serious.

Shelly, please stop doing the "this is want is wrong, this is who will fix it. how could they do this, etc..." campaign of yours. Obviously the voters don't appeal to much of what you said. There shouldn't be pointing finger, or any of that nonsense. Some have made comments that Pete's supporters attack at Virginia and yourself, but you seem no different to me. Saying Pete has screwed this up, and that and he has no experience. Why can't we all just act like adults?

Do we really have to blame other candidates for having money? If someone wants to donate money to Mayor Lewis or Virginia Haugen's campaign, they will. Let's not be silly.

Down in Auburn High School, we have been talking about the strike in Kent and it's pretty interesting to see all the info about it, trying to look on both sides and see the teachers and districts view. I don't think teachers in Auburn have striked since the late 80's but couldn't imagine what to do if my kids were at home right now. Good Luck

Mayor Pete Lewis I congradulate you on posting this, and for keeping a respectful tone throughout the entire election. I have seen the improvements you and the city council have made and congradulate you all on a very good job. For the first time in YEARS I can proudly call Auburn home something many of us have earned for so long. Excited for new developments, and the future of downtown. Good job the fine people of city hall!

I see both sides from King County, and Auburn. I see that King County is in debt and this would possibly maybe help that, I also see that Auburn wishes that the building stay in it's original condition because if a private buyer did own the building they could do anything they want as long as it does not destroy the front façade. I think a business incubator would be a good idea. I also think that Auburn is not in the current position and that outside funding should be used if we our to buy the building. And King County should be working with the cities to find a reasonable way for both parties to be satisfied. In all, it's just a mess.

Back in the day Ringling Bros would stop in Auburn not Kent. It's a shame they don't any more, that would be a great way to help boost the local economy, I'm almost positive that when they did come to Auburn it was in the downtown area. Of course that was back in the 30's and 40's.

I feel bad for the kids in the Kent school district, I have my three kids enrolled in the Auburn district and can't imagine what I'd have to do if they couldn't go to school. I know for a face that the administrators at all four high schools in Auburn and the four middle schools agreed together to cut their own pay in order to support sports and media classes in the district to be kept. You guys complain about nothing occuring in downtown development wise (which is happening) but seem to despise anything realted to helping and getting vital piece of the puzzle for the development to occur. Andrey and Nadya Ivantsov were very willing to move to a new location in order for new development to occur, and thier new building is much nicer and modern. The city puts money into this property so when the Auburn Junction project and Stratfords projects is complete all the tax will come into the city, then providing more money for city functions and even more improvements. Let's try not to hate so much, both Renton and Kent did this very well and you can now see the finished result Kent Station, and The Landing at Renton. Yes e are not trying to copy them, but it is evidence that it will work. Be grateful that we have a city council and mayor that our hardworking and enthustiastic for the future.

auburn_reader do you reamber that article about how Virgina never reads the council packets, or information and therefore make comments throughout city council meetings on questions that are in the packet.

I'm not sure why people think Auburn is financial situation is negative, because it's not. Virgina has no clue what she is getting herself into.

I think you have a decent salon buisness, having been my wife going there once or twice. However I don't belive you have enough points behind you to be up to running a city of 67,000. That's alot of people, and if you do get into city hall your going to slam you face into a wall of information that you will have no idea about, procedures, data, and overall how to be a mayor.

Ok, how about Fields, Auburn Produce Market, Coffee Island, Jason's Bakery, North Auburn Starbucks, Rue 21, Northwest Chef Products, Chicago Willy's, Door's west, Pizzia from paradise, quiznoes on lea hill, Kitsc-hen, Applebee's, Hot Iron Mongolian Grill, Taco Time in South Auburn, Kumndo Math, oh a nail salon, around the block from me. And that's only what I can easily recall recently opening in the last 2 years. Maybe you should drive around Auburn a bit more.

If you seriously believe in this then fine. Yet somehow in other comments you have mentioned that we should burn down the downtown area including Washington elementary. If that so is the case then I would hope you would vote yes on this. You want new streets because it improves quality of life. You want a better downtown because quality of life will improve. You want a new mayor because you believe the quality of life in Auburn will improve. So how are new school different? You seem to be alot of all talk no show, so to say. And yes it's proven (google it) that teachers will pick new schools with less problems then old schools with problems. As far as you're views about teaching you obviously have not seen how much work and dedication it takes. Teachers don't get paid for grading work, on average that's 9 hours of extra work at least twice a week with no pay at all. Next time you want to work 9 hours without pay you let me know. Teachers should be one of the highest paid incomes in our county. They are a resource for the kids, and the future of America. As for everything being new, the district picked this out of other scenarios to save you money. Remodelling are schools will cost more then rebuilding them. Try looking at the levy facts.

What frustrates me, is that many people in the Lea Hill and West Hill areas and even Lakeland Hill's will have a hard time voting on this one, because their school's are new. Yet somehow, before Lea Hill was annexed into the city of Auburn and 13 years before that, the district began to build school's on the hill. Of all the school's in the district the one's on the hill are in the best shape. And like ThreeDimen said, it's not a city tax it's an Auburn School District Tax. The district decided to begin building school's on the hills before the majority of the people began to live there, with a major source of the money coming from the citizens in the valley. Now that residents of the hills have quality schools, why shouldn't the valley? I don't know if any of you have been inside Auburn High but it is a sad comparison to Mountainview or Riverside. Yes it is not a new school, but it sure isnt the best shape. Not only will a new school be benifical to the community, it will improve the quality of life for the students that go there, and the quality life in downtown. Good quality teachers go to good quality schools, good quality schools equals good communities. If we are to ever to help change Auburn and it's reputation this is one more step towards that. It's hard to say No to kids. Nuff said.
