I've only read 2 books on this list so. I mostly read New Adult for angst because for some reason, I find that there is more internal conflict in these books than other genres.

But I will be bumping Sherry Thomas and Kate Clayborne on my TBR pile ❤

Thank you so much for this post, Nick! I share your sentiments and yes, the authors screaming for diversity are the exact same authors screaming at reviewers to shut up. To say I was disappointed is an understatement.

To think that a few of these authors are actually on RWA right bow is a little concerning because now it seems like they are going to excuse problematic work by AOC. Just for diversity's sake.

I'm sorry, but I expect ownvoices AOC not to harm ownvoices readers!

ALL THIS! I think this is one of the main reasons I have been neglecting blogging lately. It's more work with very little interaction. At this point, publishers don't even care/retweet our reviews. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I have not been tagging authors in all my positive or negative reviews for a few years now. But if it's an ARC, I always tag the publisher so they know that I read/reviewed the book.

Unlike booktube, blogging doesn't pay anything at all! With youtube, you can monetize and if you have the subs and views, you get adsense money. It's a little harder to get adsense $ just blogging TBH.

I LOVE Miss Bev so much and I've met her a couple of times now but still haven't read her books!

I just started Nalini Singh's Psy-Changeling last week and OMG! It's so good! I suggest you start her books... that series has 19 books so far and it's really daunting but it's just sooo good!

This sounds like a fun podcast! I am not really that into podcasts as much and I only listen to a few RARELY! I'm wondering if I have to be in the mood to listen to podcasts. I already love listening to audiobooks and that is what I listen to all the time.

This is actually my beef to traditionally and self-pubbed authors - editing and formatting and glaring errors! However, i have to say that I often see glaring errors in self-pubbed books. But that is not to say that trad pubbed don't have mistakes!

There are also a lot of self-pubbed authors who have their books copy edited and formatted at the same level as trad pubs.

I guess what I'm saying is that I will DNF a book if it was just poorly edited and formatted horribly. When reading ARCs, I usually am lenient with this but when I purchased a book - self-pubbed or not, I expect that the book I am buying is formattef correctly and copy edited. As a consumer, I expect my items to pass thru a form of QA and yes, copyediting is one of them.

I'm on the negative for this one. While I appreciate authors interacting with my reviews of their book, I don't necessarily want them to be obligated to read my reviews. It goes back to the saying that reviews are not for authors. Also, there have been authors who attaxk bloggers because of a book review.

However, I do agree with you. Pubs and authors should appreciate the bloggers and early reviewers more. I feel like we don't get as much incenstive in promoting their owkr other then receive an ARC or a finished copy of the book.

I have the book but I haven't started it uet! I'm reading Urban Fantasy right now and I'm hooked! I started reading Juliette Cross and I'm loving her dragon/human hybrid series!

Oh yes! I think the last time I met authors was at the Historical Romance Retreat :) So I met a lot of Historical Romance authors. I still haven't read anything by Susan Denard, though.
