Very, very much so, though not as much as I'm not fond of their larvae. They certainly deserve to be a Halloween staple - I'm sure Mothra would be a lot more popular if they were.

But apart from the nightmares of giant squeaking moths crawling into my orifices you're going to give me tonight, this is a great article! Most fond of those tentacle-shrooms, meself.

If I'd have to choose some Halloween mascots, I'd choose... well, a few from other articles here, really. The vampire squids, some varieties of leeches, and the bagworm that makes its home out of insect corpses come to mind. For another, I'd quite like to see hyenas take the place of wolves; their laughter is much creepier, and their (slightly - but only slightly - undeserved) reputation for being scavengers and even graveyard-raiding shapeshifters much more chilling than the hunter wolves. I'd also say those lovely glow-worms - the predatory larvae with their haunting lights would make the most lovely Halloween decorations, webs with a twist - and some more deep sea denizens, particularly the most famous gulper eels and angler fish. That's my two cents... too bad we don't celebrate Halloween in a big way here.

Re: BOGLEECH

Oh my god. I love you.

I grew up with The Trap Door; it was one of my favourite shows as a kid. My parents thought I was very strange... but this is such a trip down memory lane. Most of all, thank you thank you thank you for sharing the extended theme. It's so groovy! <3 The computer club at my university has their hub computer rigged to play the theme when they open the door in the morning. Sends me rocketing towards nostalgia, every time.

I remember being so utterly frightened by the yellow thing, though. Those creatures that just eat everything have always terrified (or possibly deeply disturbed?) me, and one has to admit, The Trap Door had quite a lot of those to haunt my nightmares with, heh.

And now you have me wanting to find these episodes again! But thanks so much for making such an in-depth article on the series. Let's get this little beauty out to more of those unfortunate enough not to know it (it was screening well into the late nineties here in Aus, I'm genuinely surprised to find out it was made in '84!). I'll stop rambling now.

Re: BOGLEECH

Well, my favourite worm were the Spirobranchus giganteus (Christmas tree worms) with deep sea tube worms second, but they don't eat flesh. So as far as carnivorous worms go, I seem to distantly recall a type of fish (or other marine animal?) parasite worm that pretty much ate its host from the gut out, but I can't for the life of me remember where I read it. Possibly a type of tape worm or close relative?

These ones take the cake, though.

Re: BOGLEECH

Some glorious choices, but what stands out for me is the Bobbit Worm. I've never seen those before, but... so pretty! So huge! So vicious! I think I have a new favourite carnivorous worm. <3
