Your suggestions are very helpful. Do you take any of the orders away during the last 15-20 minutes of the day as well or is it just the start-of-trading that you are careful of?

Thanks,

YK

Re: Earnings UpsideTrader

I got out of IBB, JNPR, LEAP, and CREE yesterday for a couple of reasons...

1. Got stopped out of too many last week & didn't want to take losses on a big pull-back with Cashin & Roubini lacking confidence.
2. Didn't hear from Joe since Monday 6am-ish (no guidance/hand-holding from the master to the amateur(s)).

Flat on profit/loss but basically missed all triggers.

I, too, am having a hard time catching moves manually. I guess when we have 10 stocks that pre-trigger that we should set up automated buys for all so that I (we) catch the entry-points better. With a margin account I can over-extend on the orders & then cancel orders that haven’t triggered in order to not go into margin. As I take profits on trades I could reinitiate automated orders that haven’t triggered. Is this a good strategy?

YK

Re: A Tuesday Follow Through Would Be Nice UpsideTrader

Where's Joe?

Re: Update UpsideTrader

Joe, is CREE still on the watch list? It seemed as though you had more confidence in POT than others as POT was approaching its entry. At the time, POT was approaching (which was fast) I was trying to figure out whether I should exit RTH and set a short trigger to enter POT. In hindsight, I wish I would have done exactly that since POT was a big winner and RTH is now under water... I missed a couple of your other winners for the same reason.

When you list triggers, they all appear to carry the same weight (i.e. it is hard to tell which you are most confident in). I imagine you have a preference though but I would expect your preferences to change as the trading day/week unfolds. Just trying to figure out how to make sure that we ride the winners and hop of the others that either tread water or submerge on us...

Thanks in advance,

YK

Re: UPDATE UpsideTrader

Joe, how much of your portfolio do you allocate to trades? Got these because I caught close to the entry points (along with the BRCD long which stopped out).

The other day, I held off on entering BHI, EOG, and CNX because entering would have required trading in the first 15 minutes of the day. I thought I read in one of your posts to be a little more cautious at the start-of-trading and end-of-trading. I really missed out on these stocks because after they continued down I didn’t want to chase them. I would much rather have been in BHI, EOG, and CNX than the three that I did catch.

This happened to be when you were out of town so you weren’t able to provide more detailed guidance on entries.

My question is… when you set an entry point, should we just set entry-triggers & let them fill – assuming you didn’t caution us about other events? Should we avoid entries during first/last 15/30 minutes of trade as a rule or was that a one-off that I (thought I) caught a few weeks ago?

Thanks in advance…

YK

Re: Sunday Night UpsideTrader

BRCD Stopped out.

What is the stop on RTH again?

Thanks,

YK
