One of the things that got me excited about The Fox in the Forest is the Fox power of swapping with the revealed trump card.

I got very much into lots of card games in school, and especially spent a lot of time with trick-taking games, to the point that I can't really remember a time when I didn't understand trick-taking as a concept. So yes, it confuses me a bit when people have not experienced this, or find it complex.

BUT, I understand a bit because I have come across some of my own confusions with games that have more to them than the easy, vanilla trick-taking games I started with (Hearts, Spades, "simple" things like that). Like Euchre, where one card switches suits to the trump for that hand.

Or Schnapsen. (Or 66, or whichever of the names/variants you might know.)

This is a game I learned of when I was going on a trip with a friend of mine who also loves card games of this sort, and I asked Google about "best two-player card games", which led me to https://www.pagat.com/marri... . Now *this* has some extra things to deal with. The trump is set by the extra card every hand. There are two phases to the game: the first is very "loose" (you don't have to follow suit), and the second is very "strict" (you *must* try to win the trick). You can swap a card in your hand for the displayed trump card. You can choose to shorten the first phase. It seemed almost like madness, and we loved it. And we still do.

It got me so interested that I bought some cards while I was visiting Hungary. And the best part of learning this is when I started dating a Bulgarian, who is also familiar with (a version of) the game. And sometimes we play in public, where people may watch and have no idea whatsoever how to follow the action. And not just because of the cards we're using.

I know Hebrew, but I wouldn't call myself anything close to a graphic designer. Although I do know people who know graphic design. And maybe a person who knows both.

How far along are you with this idea? Is it just "Hebrew ambigram", or "I want it to say something vaguely like X", or "I want it to say this particular thing"?

Last night I was at my local board game group, playing Ra, and one of the other players mentioned that something was "a fine move". This gave me an almost-surprising thrill of that shared connection, the kinship of knowing that you both enjoy something great.

But as it turned out, it was more of a "fine" move than a *fine* move, and I did come in last in that game of Ra.

I have an old Wacom Graphire (2? 3?), and I think it's great. It's simple, doesn't have the fancy angle support and as much pressure levels as a higher-end tablet, but it's good for the price. And fun!
