Whit and I both regularly get almost hit by cars making right turns. At my
work intersection, the lights are such that I occasionally get almost hit by
cars making left turns.

Our bike laws are similar, they just have to obey the rules of whichever one
they are traveling on. However, bikers routinely bike the wrong way in the
road on one-way streets around here, and zip by pedestrians without
announcing they are passing.

It's just generally unsafe to be a pedestrian about 5% of the time around
here.

I'm actually getting through Seymour: An Introduction on my commute now.
It's really beautiful and emotional.

I said this before and I'll say it again: I think JD Salinger became as
reclusive as he did because he needed to protect the Glass family.

This story I'm reading now is making me feel this way even more.

Does there need to be more of an explanation than that? I feel like if you

I agree with a lot of what you are saying there. The extermination of the
Dharma Initiative brings up the issue of what the truth of that situation
was. I don't think that we know yet if the Dharma Initiative was ultimately
benevolent or malevolent. I suspect that by the end of May, we will have a
different picture of the truth than what we have now. And, that truth will
change the graph that started this whole conversation.

Well, I would argue that external factors can influence your life in such a
way that the only choices you have to make with your free will are choices
that would be seen as evil, but for you are the good choices.

Also, Ben Linus talks pretty extensively about doing things to help the
Island, and it seems like the solidly evil people (FLocke, the Black Man,
Team Widmore) are the ones who bring weaponry and kill people at random.

Do you even follow Lost? I didn't think you did?

No, I work in an office above an alehouse kitchen, and I work at the desk
right next to a seam between the new part of the building and the old.
Every smell comes to me, and they're not always smells that make sense or
could possibly be real. One day it was baked fish tires. That was a bad
day.
