We all don't have iPhones and that wasn't my point. My point was addressing the first comment about iPhone to iPhone. If you have one and I have one, why not use the method that's built in that doesn't require app, sign-in, etc..

Obviously for the mobile industry in general the way to go is Google, Skype...anything that's free and is fairly universally used.

But for Blackberry users, if they need to communicate with another, why not use BBM?

Again though my comment was focused solely on iPhone to iPhone users. If an iPhone user doesn't have Skype installed on their phone, then you can't make a Skype call to them obviously. It requires an app whereas Facetime is builtin to the OS.

You may not need to log in initially but the other person needs the app, in which case you have to install if the other person doesn't have it. If you and I wanted to talk on video, you'd have to wait for me to download Tango, which I don't have. And clearly you didn't read what I said - I said IF you are chatting with someone else with an iPhone there is no better option. Obviously if you want to talk to someone with an Android phone, you'll need to look elsewhere. But if a family has kids/parents all using an iPhone, why not? And it's Wifi only now but that's why this whole thing is available on cell with iOS6.

If you are communicating with another iPhone/iPad/Mac user, there is no better option. No need to log into Skype, Google Plus, etc.. It works just like a phone call - nobody needs an app or to be signed into anything. Plus unlike the Skype app, the video is full screen as opposed to half screen.

Most content, at least on XBOX 360, is the same broadcast 720p HD that you'd get on regular cable

Well if I am to believe the rumors, the aspect ratio would change to be taller and so the width of the actual device wouldn't increase by much. If I can use it while walking down the street, holding a coffee, holding onto the subway or bus handles.

And yes, I did choose Apple because of the OS. I prefer the design, the ecosystem and things like widgets don't concern me. Again, I gave Android a chance by buying an EVO when it came out and I almost kept it but I realized that practically I couldn't operate it under my busy life in NYC with one hand. Thus I moved back to iPhone.

I don't think a 4 inch would fail if designed correctly. Remember that Apple is trying to sell the iPhone to as wide a user base as possible...thus if 80% of the population can wrap their thumb from one side to the other, it's not that 80% of the population has tiny hands - it's that 80% of the population includes kids, teens, women, etc..

I for one prefer a screen size where I can use the phone with one hand, as my other hand on the go is usually busy or carrying something. I had the HTC EVO and returned it as I couldn't turn it on, txt, etc.. From what I understand that's why Apple chose the 3.5 inch screen size to begin with - because based on average hand sizes, 80% of adults could operate with one hand

Yup, there's no way users would want to use this on a daily basis. But the option is there should they need it I guess.

I'm thinking this was enabled in anticipation of 4G LTE iPhones. Video chatting over 3G would be choppy to a point of being useless.

I don't think this is geared for regular people though. The Airs and regular Pros are. I'm thinking this is mostly for graphic artists/designers and video editors.

To those of you saying "who cares", I think the real benefit here is for video editors. Being able to edit in full 1080p while having extra screen estate for all the controls, tools without the need of a second monitor?

Ugh. After not being satisfied with the Fire, I was going to trade it in for a Nook Color or Tablet. But if even sideloading is disabled then I will keep the Fire. At least Amazon makes it possible to install outside APKs without rooting....for now.

I don't think this will deter me from continuing to use Gmail as an exchange email on the default iOS mail app. Push notifications, more fluid and contact book integration. But hey, more options are always good.
