Though Verizon made $19.3 billion in U.S. profits from 2008 to 2012, it paid no federal income taxes over the five years and instead claimed a refund of $535 Million. the is key word FEDERAL taxes.

we seem to have lost the spirit of labor here in America.

my dad was a janitor and my mother was a schmatta seamstress.

working at these menial jobs for long, hard hours they were able to send their kids to college and buy a modest home.

why?

because they had unions that bargained

living wages and benefits for them.

i enjoyed this, i really did. it was a rather long, with a slow start so that it was difficult to stick with it, but the pay-off was grand. i think this will work better on the standard, paper page than on a long scrolling column. thanks for putting a smile on my face today, good job! :-)
