Oh yes... less is definitely more. I always say that when you have 20 tracks in a song, then on average they each occupy 1/20 of the available space. When you have 4 tracks in a song, they each occupy 1/4 of the space on average. That's why at 8 tracks, early Led Zeppelin will always sound bigger than so many recordings on 24 or more. It's all about elegantly using the space you have... getting maximum impact from each instrument!

Gonna listen now! The drums are easy because they are so well played, and then they are really light on things like washy cymbals, etc. The song is so open and simple. No one is fighting for space. It's great!

Ugh. Peter just looked at it. It's a glitch but ultiimately caused by the fact that the Hi-res audio files are not in the system. I think this is because there was something weird happening when we tried to get them in last year. The glitch of course is that if there are no hi-res files, it should just NOT present a download link. Some reason it does. I'm looking at files this week, to figure out why that thing's been hung up! Thanks for your patience!

Ha. "dirty laundry basket".... that's awesome. It's funny because snare sounds always seem to swing between having "crack" or "being huge". We're in a "being huge" phase, I suppose. We may regret that down the line? We'll see!

Good job, Alex! "terminally-climactic"... that truly says it all. Starts small, ends big (waveform is proof)! There's another episode that finish up the season in which its terminally climactic nature was actually the root of some real problems! Stay tuned!

Oh yeah, I think we had the AEA A440 in the center overhead too. Usually The Coles 4038 works better there but it was not hacking it. We've subsequently had AEA re-ribbon it. Much better in my opinion in that position.

I guess. But something seems very wrong about that to me. For me it's about the performance, and no drummer really wants to perform without cymbals.

I used to have a "no open hi-hats" policy for that reason! Then someone told me I was being crazy. Ha. It got a lot better at the current studio where the ceiling is so much higher and angled. But I hear ya!

Gotcha! Might be a tad pokey, though I reserve the opinions of others over my own. And FWIW I only have earbuds today. Yeah, those cymbals were crazy, huh? I loved them. These weird "Soul Tones" or something like that.
