You wrote this just so you could use that scene somewhere. It's not dead if you get to use it! :-)

My creative writing teacher always used to use that "Kill your babies" phrase. He'd walk around the class going "Kill your babies! Kill you babies!" Here I thought that was just his saying.

Thanks for sharing. I look forward to reading more of your posts.

Wintress Odom
The Writers For Hire, Inc.
www.thewritersforhire.com/blog

Re: Your Copy Sucks: How to Pitch a Blogger

Thank you! I think this rule goes for pretty much all emails that are written on a one-to-one basis. I just recently had a client who was trying to write an email to get a related business to refer his. I kept trying to pull the email back in the direction that you're suggesting, and he kept tell me..."but it sounds so personal, like something I would write a friend. It doesn't sound like a sales email." I kept saying, "well, yes, that's the point!"

Re: Direct marketing – long copy v short copy

Hi Anthony,

Just saw your interview on SocialMediaPortal -- showed up in my Google Alerts, so I thought I'd come check out your blog. Looks like good stuff. I'll add it to my feeds. I'm always looking to see what other copywriters are up to and share tips.

Regarding long copy -- I just can't bring myself to do it. I've tried, and the customer always ends up unsatisfied, and I always end up unhappy. The stuff really does make my stomach turn, and I always feel like a snake oil salesman when I'm trying to do it.

Honestly, I agree that stats say it does work, but I'd like to see some stats on what sort of customer it works on. I'm probably going to get yelled at by somebody for this, but... my instinct it to say that it probably works better on target audiences with lower education and income levels. But I don't have any studies to back me up. What do you think?

Anyway, good to meet you -- come check out our blog some time if you get the inkling: www.thewritersforhire.com/blog.

Re: Adding WP Post Excerpts to Facebook Links

Oh, I should mention that probably only works for WordPress blogs.

Re: Adding WP Post Excerpts to Facebook Links

I had the same problem, but this coding was just too hard for me. I finally figured out that if you aren't very good at the coding, you can just upload a plug in. The All in One SEO pack seems to be the popular one, and it will automatically write unique META tags per page (or you can write your own). We use it on our blog...you can see the results here: www.thewritersforhire.com/blog.
