We had a great weekend talking about 2 Tim. 4:6-10 and looking to Jesus as our promise and our prize. I got to play rhythm electric for a change, and that was really enjoyable. I need to do that more often. I'm really thankful for all the awesome volunteers we have that help make our 4 weekend services happen. They sacrifice a lot of time to make it work!

This weekend we celebrated our building dedication for our new worship center, and our pastor shared about the five things we'll be prioritizing in this space: declare the greatness of God, thank God for His goodness, respond to the grace of God, seek guidance from God, and reach the next generation for God.

I use my journaling Bible to write commentary notes in the margins, as well as notes for preaching and teaching. It is a great tool for studying and growing in the Lord!

The new Android app is wonderful! Thank you for the great update!

Now, the only thing left is to figure out how we can merge songs in the database without having to delete them and re-upload them. I came to a church that had four different people putting their versions of songs in, and they did it without adding CCLI numbers, rather than creating different arrangements within a single song listing. We can't have multiple entries for the same CCLI number, so we're stuck. Could there be a way for multiple songs with the same CCLI number to merge into one file as different arrangements? :)

This subject is so important, yet it is often overlooked.

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned already, but Henry Cloud's book, "Integrity" has some great material on this subject as well. He calls it our "wake," and says that we can understand our own character better by looking at our wake. I highly recommend "Integrity" for anyone looking to grow and develop his or her character. Few books have challenged me more.

Michael, thank you for continuing to give us valuable content. I believe we are all better off as a result.

We have a few leaders who can take care of a weekend in my absence. Because we do four services a weekend (2 Saturday, 2 Sunday), the church is very gracious and tells me to take 10 weekends "off," where I am not leading the weekend services. I have a "NextGen" worship director who is my first go-to leader, and there are two ladies who can lead (but one just had a baby, and the other one is getting close...).

One of the chief blessings in disguise of having such a full weekend of services (and simultaneous band-led worship services for the children's ministry) is that we need a huge pool of volunteers (around 50 worship team folks) to sustain it. When we have so many, we end up discovering some people who can really lead. When they lead, I let them plan the services as they feel comfortable, and I just give them some input/feedback before they finalize it all. I'm very grateful to have people who can lead in my absence here, without me having to worry at all. It's a beautiful thing!

Thanks, guys. Great discussion on the subject. When I look at how we are utilizing projected lyrics, there seem to be repeated debates amongst our team about the best way to do it, so I really appreciate your thoughts. It helps to have some third-party opinions when it comes to those sticking points!

What do you prefer, or what have you found to work best, regarding the format of your projected lyrics? Some examples would be how many lines per slide, how you handle capitalization, etc. This isn't talked about very often, and I would be interested to hear how you do it at SSCC. Thanks!

I have experienced that sort of thing occasionally. I think it would be harder to tell if one didn't have multiple services with which to compare. It's really amazing how different one service can be from another. I would be interested to hear what your intercessors were experiencing during that service, as well. These are such great points. Working under bad bosses in the past gave me some great insight into my own issues/tendencies as a leader.

The one main thing I would add is: Fear is a pitiful motivator. You will never get your people's best work if you make them afraid.

I would like a copy of this new Bible for a few reasons:

1) I love finding new and fresh ways of explaining the gospel to people who don't know Jesus yet, and from what I hear, The Voice has a creative way of presenting the timeless truth of Scripture.

2) As one who tries to write songs with which my congregation can worship, I think I would benefit greatly from the fresh presentation of The Voice.

3) As a worship pastor, it would be a very useful tool to use in our services, giving a fresh expression to the timeless Word. Such a change sparks new interest for our people in the Lord and in His Word.
