My understanding is that it was shot in VistaVision and Super 35--no IMAX cameras involved.

Really enjoyed this episode, guys. Nice hearing an enthusiastic discussion of LP. While it ended up solidly in the middle of my PTA rankings, I still saw it 7 times in 10 weeks in the theatre.

You were puzzling over the "meaning" of the title, and which you (correctly) concluded has no real meaning. Paul was quoted as saying that it just evokes a time and a place for him--having grown up with/around the (as you mentioned) LICORICE PIZZA record store chain in the 70s and 80s.

Enjoyed your chat with Ethan, too. He and I are also Twitter Buddies. I, also am quite the PTA nerd--and apparently via my efforts moderating over at r/paulthomasanderson was able to help him finish the 'revision' of his book, post-LP release. (It was also very cool of him to mention me in the acknowledgements of the book!)

Thanks, Jonah. I enjoyed this. It was such a massive loss losing Phil, it's nice to read appreciations like this from time to time. Just rewatched The Master in 70mm and was moved to tears by his magnificent performance.

I recently discovered a show called Mike Tyson Mysteries and it's one of my new favorites. I wonder what kind of substances were around when the premise of this show was conceived. Norm MacDonald voicing a pigeon (one of the main characters) is particularly delightful.

My landlords of 20 years (an elderly couple) were very conservative and always put up signs supporting the most abysmal candidates (to my mind). It always seemed unfair that the owner could exercise their free-speech, but the tenants couldn't.

I've never really understood the impulse to post these signs. It seems to assume that a) Your neighbors care what you think or b) you can persuade someone to vote for your candidate. Both would be incorrect.

Ron Jeremy never appeared in "Boogie Nights". He *was* a "technical advisor", and filmed one scene--but it was never included in the final edit.

I won't miss the handshakes--I've been fist-bumping for a couple of years now--but as someone who uses humor a lot in interactions (or tries to), I definitely miss the facial cues. Tongue-in-cheek is much more difficult with face-in-mask.
