Debt is meaningless to her Millenial and Gen Z supporters because they are all carrying the same amount or more. They somehow got the idea that you get a six figure income the day you step off the stage. When that doesn’t materialize, they just spend like they do. I have Millennial children who were taught differently but unfortunately still developed the same expectations (but they have also been responsible about the incurred debt). One is a dedicated one-issue Dem voter just for their promise of college debt forgiveness. Sigh…

Texas universities are still participating in this nonsense, too, just under the radar. They’ve stopped the blatant DEI/anti-racism indoctrination struggle sessions for the most part but continue to have embedded content in classes and have renamed job titles. I have a co-worker whose husband’s job is basically DEI for A&M and his job is not at risk.

During the George Floyd era, I was required to attend SIX 2-hr anti-racism struggle sessions. However, because it was also during COVID, they were on Zoom so I just blocked my video and turned off my speaker and did my actual work instead. Texas later passed legislation prohibiting these mandated sessions so our department dropped them. Turns out the “company” they had contracted with had been around for less than six months at the time and had maybe three other clients. They also appeared to be connected to someone in the department. Lots of grifty grift in the DEI world.

Frustration is on both sides. Pts think that having insurance means “I get any testing/meds I want for free” while insurance companies are working hard to spend the least amount of money on their care as possible. Providers are in the middle of that. Providers are often restricted from prescribing a med we know is appropriate but the insurance company has decided that the pt doesn’t have the right diagnosis so won’t approve payment (and paying cash to get around the system is often not doable). The ACÁ further skewed the system with the false premise that everyone needed access to “insurance” instead of focusing on access to care, which are different animals. Having a third party pay for anything does nothing but restrict your access and raise your costs.

I know someone with a special needs functional adult child who lives in their paid off house by herself (mom stays nearby at her boyfriend’s home) who uses Medicaid to get “paid” to take care of her own daughter who lives in her own home. Just several hundred dollars but she takes “rent” from her daughter’s funds and buys all her groceries, etc. She has been doing this for decades (and she’s not Somalian). These scammy systems have been around a long time.

Among the worst harms caused by the useless over exaggeration of the seriousness of COVID was the infliction of severe anxiety on those poor souls who already suffer from significant anxiety. I had patients who were paralyzed with fear, unable to leave their homes. One pt came regularly double-masked with face shield and double gloved (thankfully she has now returned to her baseline and is no longer wearing even a mask). She is lucky. There are still many who have had permanent damage. It was criminal, in my opinion.

Interestingly, this was also happening at the same time as we were experiencing massive increases in illegal immigration, which is even more impressive. Once we have more data for this period of active deportations of illegal gang member/criminals, the numbers will likely look even better.

Why has the right not cottoned on to the idea that they should form fake lefty NGOs to get in on the money stream? My husband and I worked with the local Republican county apparatus in the last election and were flabbergasted by the seemingly endless supply of money for our opponents while struggling with a tight budget ourselves.
