Hi Michael,

It's a great topic with plenty of food for thought. It's interesting too that all the fears mentionned so far seem to concern bloggers' attitudes towards their own creative juices. Personally I'm a lot more inclined to worry about something basically outside our control - the internet itself. What if it somehow got shut down and so many excellent efforts were to vanish from the screen? Fingers crossed that one never happens.

Lots of positive and practical ideas here, I really like the way your posts are a mixture of serious and funny.

Blogging , like a lot of things, seems to me like a constant learning process with room for improvement always available to everyone in all sorts of areas. Ask any world champion sportsman/woman about their performance and they'll probably tell you about what they need to improve on. And you can ask them any day of the year, because they are constantly striving to be the best they can. Not just on Jan 1.

At the moment I'm thinking about how to improve the speed of my site - and trying to fathom out why I'm occasionally getting 500 & 503 errors. ( related issues maybe?) If anyone could give me a couple of pointers/good links on these issues I'd be hugely grateful.... ( as a beginner blogger my level of knowledge is still relatively low in lots of areas I'm afraid !)

Now listening to this for the second time - (the first was while having a bath a couple of hours ago ) - and it's great to hear young people going their own way in such a focussed way. I understand why Ileane wishes Rob wasn't so "anti-school" but I think it's fine the direction he's taking. In an ideal world schools would be voluntary. ( "in the land of the free you can be what you want to be" says Holly Johnston of Frankie Goes To Holywood).Not that the world's ideal of course ...
