Just a quick comment that I haven't seen raised yet. While watching the videos of the Tab announcement, I heard one of the arguments for the TD's decision was that "when a rule doesn't cover a particular action, it is up to the judge's discretion to decide."

Never mind the fact that even if this is true, that would imply that the LITERAL judge in the round (IE Matt) has discretion here not Tab staff but more importantly this just isn't true to begin with. If an action isn't codified as illegal, it is legal. No one would ever be convicted on the basis of "well it seems like what you did should be illegal so even though it isn't, you're still guilty." The default "community norm" of every action is permissibility just like it is in the rest of life. Especially given the TD's reliance on the argument that there wasn't codified action so they had to make a seat of their pants decision, it seems preposterous that one wouldn't just default to non-action in a situation specifically banning an action given no precedent for this in the real world.

True, I have a confirmation email, where they give me a ship date as well as a confirmation that my order is being processed and says the shoes were "sold" to me. That seems to imply an acceptance to me, but I'm not a lawyer.

I want the BK brief so badly. I saw it in store though (an employee had one of his own that he showed me) and I think it is too small for my use. It fits a 13 inch laptop and a book pretty comfortably but that is about all. You can't even get a medium sized binder in there.

Just got mine in the mail and tried it on. Great out of the box. I got a 36R and 30x30 trousers in navy. I could probably escape without tailoring on the jacket. Might get it done slightly but fits almost perfectly out of the box. And I'm a trim guy. Button stance is really low though, just like the Ludows. Also, minimal shoulder padding for most of the shoulder and then quite a bit more right at the outer edges of each. Not a deal breaker but definitely something to be aware of. Pants are luxury sized a bit. I might have been able to size down a size if they had it in the waist. FIt of the pants is decent out of the box. Definitely not a totally straight leg but I'm definitely going to have them tapered quite a bit. The fabric feels pretty damn good for the price and I love the buttons on the jacket. They make it wearable as a blazer possibly. For $270? It's definitely a buy. If it ends up going any lower, you should buy it even if you have a closet full of navy suits already. It's that good.

They would be great as separates. The brown buttons make the jacket very versatile IMHO and the pants would work fine I think. I'm planning to use it both as a suit and separates.

Just ordered mine. 36R so let's see how it is. I also noticed a lot more slim stuff from J. Crew factory in this new wave of stuff. Lots of shirts, those oxfords for $40 look really good, I ordered one of the polos. Factory always ran bigger than normal J.Crew so we shall see how the slims fit. Would love a review of the oxfords. Those could be a great buy even with the logo. It seems pretty small and forgettable.

Suit Supply for the suit. That's on the higher end but its a good deal for the money. So that takes up somewhere between 470 and 630. That leaves you with say 500. Next try Uniqlo for some basics. On that limited budget, I know it isn't high quality but I've bought their chinos and such in the past and they hold up pretty wel and are worth it when you have to rebuy (even quality pieces wear out so you end up rebuying anyway). I would say J. Crew or Brooks Brothers for some oxfords and dress shirts in that price range. There are smaller boutiques but they end up going for $150 a shirt at least, which is out of your range. Quality footwear might be tricky on that budget but check out Macy's for some good deals.
The best place to find these is Soho (Spring and Broadway area is the home base) and 30-60 on 5th and Park.

I ordered some university cut chinos that shipped today. Never tried them before but I have a pair of the slim fit chinos and I have found that they are slightly too slim below the knee and slightly too baggy above it. Not the best fit ever. Slightly larger than the Levi's 511, slimmer than the 514s.

I just picked up some BR vintage straight fit cords and have been loving them. A little on the (too) slim side, but overall, slightly thinner than say the 514s which I find just loose in the thighs. They beat Rugby or Levi's in my opinion and I own both. My new favorite pair.
