Since Twitter started, the pseudo community formed around a few people who already knew each other but now had this online persona. As each persona grew, networks grew, but as we generally do wherever Jews are, we connected, helped and schmoozed with each other. This widely dispersed, yet vividly connected community has grown to a point where we use it for communal good, activism, prayer and more. I'm a proud member of this virtual chevra :)

"Farm"-spam is the worst! Unless you are actually going to drop off a bunch of fresh carrots at my door on your way home from work, I DO NOT CARE! Worst still is the IM requests in the same vain.I find that by the second irrelevant post, I reach out to the poster privately and ask them why they are sharing so much and if their account has been compromised.

The click drop ratio is a HUGE deal. This goes more into site design as well... don't think you will achieve virality, raise funds or get email sign ups if it take more than a click/screen or two to get to the end result.

Good point, Michael. The value of the prize needs to be worth the loss in credibility. For "Like" contest, if you have any sort of following, you need to weigh that risk against the prize you hope to win.

That's the real trick of it. With 2 days of "open space" conversations, it is up to us to connect externally and turn these ideas into actionable plans. I am sure that over the seven year history of this year, great things have happened, new partnerships forms and diversity in the community has influenced us all for the better.

Yes, I multitask... I can be watching something, while quickly perusing my Google reader for the latest blog posts, Twitter feed for something good to RT and IMing with friends and coworkers at the same time. I usually don't partake in watching + being online participating about the show though.

Two years ago my wife and new son at the time took our very first family road trip over mother's day already a warm and sunny summer day in our parts.- its was so "great". We drove out to Shepherdstown, WV and on the way stopped to visit Antietam battlefield. It's a day I will never forget: smiles, great fun, hiking, history... We took great pictures all around the wilderness of Antietam then headed off to the decidedly picturesque town of Shepherdstown. Boutiques, fashion, spas, food... this was the part my wife loved. After being cooped up all winter long with our new son, it was a great day to get out, walk around and pamper herself while I perused with the kid. If we win, she gets the prize - we had our second son two weeks ago!
