Of course, if you let food cook too long it can burn or dry out. Because the air fryer cooks things more quickly it's a good idea to keep a pretty close eye on what you're cooking to make sure it doesn't over cook -- especially when you're first getting the hang of it. I've found this is most likely to happen to food if you cut it into really small pieces. For example, when I made shoestring sweet potato fries, they were kind of leathery but when I cut them into fat sticks they were awesome.

Re: Lunch Bag Comparison Chart

Sorry -- I can't think of anything off the top of my head. You are correct that LunchBots has a few thermal jars, and Bentology does as well. There is also a lunch box on the market called Omie Box that has a removable thermos right inside. Good luck!

Re: Lunch Bag Comparison Chart

Hi Kate! No, I don't know of a lunch bag that is big enough to hold a Rover with a drink inside. I have heard that some of the Built NY bags can hold the PlanetBox Rover though, so maybe they would be stretchy enough to fit a drink too? Might be worth looking into. Good luck!

Re: Preparing a Preschool Bento

Hi Becky! While I haven't written a specific post about it, I've packed many, many allergy friendly bentos over the years. My kids both go to a nut-free school and my younger son had a dairy allergy when he was younger (he's since outgrown it) so I've been abiding by allergy rules for a while. You can see a lot of these lunches in my bento box gallery:
Nut-free: http://wendolonia.com/bento... (sorry -- not seed free)
Dairy-free: http://wendolonia.com/bento...
Hope this helps and gives you some good ideas!

Re: Lunch Box Comparison Chart: How 6 Popular Boxes Stack Up

I've had multiple requests to add the BentoGo Kids this year so I am going to look into it for a future update. The dimensions listed for each bag are the outer dimensions and usually include extra pockets and the handles which will both stick out a bit. The inner dimensions -- where the lunch boxes go -- are usually smaller. I tested the Planetbox by putting it inside the Classmates bag and it wouldn't fit in the main compartment completely, let alone zip up.

Re: Lunch Box Comparison Chart: How 6 Popular Boxes Stack Up

Hi! I don't have any personal experience with the Go Green, but I've looked into it and I know a few people who have one. I've decided to pass on it for my boys because it's on the large side. At 13 inches, it's 3 inches wider than our biggest lunch box, which is a bit more than my kids want to deal with. There are definitely Go Green fans out there though. If I were choosing for pre-K, I would personally go with the Yumbox with a planetbox coming in a close second. Good luck!

Re: Four New Year’s Goals and How They’re Going

OK, I didn't know that there's a real live book called "How to Raise an Adult"! I have wanted a filtering device my kids' internet use for years. Like you, I want my kids to be able to spend time online, but it's really, really hard to limit inappropriate content. I can't even tell you how many times my 7yo started off watching a Minecraft walk-through on YouTube and ended up on something complete CRAZY just a few minutes later by clicking the links at the ends of the videos.

Re: Mommy blogging, 101

I told my kid the tooth he swallowed would bite his butt when it came out, so there's that.

Re: Crisp In a Jar

Ah wait! The canning jars should be able to take the change from cold
to hot just fine, but since I’m a little worried about the jars breaking
from thermal shock I prefer to put the sheet with the jars on it into
the oven before I turn it on and let them heat up gradually as the oven
gets hot. I set the oven to 375 degrees and the timer to 40 minutes and
they come out perfectly every time."

It's a terrific to have them on hand for a nice treat!

Re: Crescent Roll-Ups Four Ways

Hey guys! Sorry for the late reply to these questions. I usually refrigerate the roll-ups and put them into the lunch boxes in the morning. They are room temperature by lunch time. I have not tried freezing them because my family eats them too quickly, but I bet that would work pretty well. I'd love to hear how it works if you try it!
