I say this as a developer with apps in the store. If you want to go elsewhere, please do so. Apple owes you exactly nothing, so if they've squandered the last measure of your good will, it's time to choose an alternative.

Re: Microsoft bans open source from the Marketplace | thinq_

Your point is correct, but it's not strictly true that you have to use a GPL compiler to build projects in XCode. Although GCC is used by default, XCode now ships with LLVM compiler and Clang front end, which have BSD-like licenses.

Re: iPhone SDK: Making Your AudioSession Routes Play Nicely with the Vibrate Switch

My mistake. I was under the impression that compare: was case-insensitive by default. I'll apply your suggestion above. Thanks for the close reading.

Re: iPhone SDK: Making Your AudioSession Routes Play Nicely with the Vibrate Switch

Incorrect. It may not be obvious on iOS 4.x, but the capitalization of that route name ("lineout") has changed across versions in the past. Therefore, I intentionally chose a more liberal comparison predicate to ensure a match.

Re: Let's end programmer bigotry - A Healthy Information Diet - InfoVegan.com

Perhaps instead it shows that they have a PR problem and that stereotypes are damn persistent.

Re: Intridea Blog: Stop The Hate: Obj-C Deserves Your Love

I challenge the assertion that stringByReplacingOccurrencesOfString:withString: is poorly named. I'm not a grizzled veteran, but I feel that Cocoa's inherent verbosity greatly improves its readability. Once you're used to seeing method names of that length, they don't take up any more mental shelf space than, e.g., sub. Also, the consistent naming lets you know that you will receive an autoreleased object from that method. Finally, there can be no ambiguity in the parameter ordering. This really helps in method families like substring, which in other languages/libraries require you to sort out which of the magic numbers represents the start/end/length of the selected character range. Admittedly, Ruby's index notation solves this in quite a different, and much more succinct, way.

Re: Pandigital announces eReader with Barnes & Noble

Lest we forget, B&N already tried to make inroads with the Nook reader. I take it from the lack of mention that Nook is already regarded as a failed enterprise. Everyone could be locked out because of the choice or happenstance of a party whose only purpose is validation, the exact opposite of what you really want.

Re: Hello world! - Journal of a Maker

Testing Disqus comment integration with Wordpress...
