Obama's problem, and the nations, is that his were believed and taken to heart.  The huge voter turnout at the last election was comprised of a lot of  people who had never spent  much (any) time following politics.  These newcomers did not realize that campaign promises are not actually promises.  "I will try to push this through congresss" or "this is my agenda" claims would more accurately describe the pact made during the election cycle.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Now Santa has an empty bag but a long line of children who still expect their goodies.  Trial lawyers, big labor environmentalists, the poor, the middle class, the lower middle class, etc. all still expect their promised bounty.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;This could get ugly.&lt;/p&gt;</description><dc:creator xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">wapnerspc</dc:creator><pubDate>Fri, 14 Aug 2009 09:31:21 -0000</pubDate></item><item><title>Re: •  Government Capping Compensation?</title><link>http://pacificgatepost.blogspot.com/2009/07/government-capping-compensation.html#comment-13698016</link><description>&lt;p&gt;The ultimate irony is that the taxpayer is at far greater risk from the unfunded  pensions of the assorted government officials who will be doing the "compensation policing" than from the bloated corporate compensation packages at issue.  The legions of federal, state and local do-nothings who will rake in $75k+ a year for 40 years after retirement may bankrupt us all.
