He carried it with him everywhere for years.
We were recently working on his college applications (he's now a senior) and he listed this as one of the books that has had the most influence on his life.
He's already done a developer internship and is applying to study CompSci.

Re: Iran May Ease Visa Rules For Tourists But Not For Americans, Britons

I was fortunate to be able to visit Iran independently for 2 weeks in 2011 (with my kids!). It was an incredible experience. Everyone we met was friendly and welcoming. http://wandermom.com/tag/iran/

Re: Help Build Wells in Haiti AND Win a Prize! #PwP

Thanks for the support Michael!

Re: 'Supermoms' Should Tell the Truth About Their Perfect Lives - Atlantic Mobile

My one wish, as a working mom of two kids, one with some special needs: can we PLEASE change school schedules so that vacation times are shorter and distributed throughout the year.

Here's a thought: German kids get 6 weeks summer vacation, Greeks get 12. Which one is more successful?

Re: No One Knows What the F*** They’re Doing (or “The 3 Types of Knowledge”)

Tremendous!

Re: Agony of Defeat, Part 2: The Cut

Keep up your cheering Mom!
So long as he sticks with skiing or soccer or any sport he'll end up enjoying the benefits of participating + being active. My parents spent an inordinate amount of time at swim practice + swim meets with me + my 5 sisters. Did any of us end up champions (in the traditional sense)? no. But we're all fit, active + healthy today - and we still compete against each other whenever possible.

Re: Come on Baby, Do the Loco Moco

Yum, yum, yum :)

Re: I Heart... I love your photos of the Christmas lights in Florence.
Thanks for including the Passports With Purpose reminder also.

Re: Motherhood of the Traveling Pants

Living and working in tech-land has meant that I don't usually have to care very much about how I'm dressed at work. Today, though, I was having lunch with a fashionista friend, so I 'dressed up' - with my Joe's Jeans.
And then I found this article!
Coincidence ? Or just many mom's discovering mom-tested, mom-tried, still-looking-good jeans? I think so.

Re: The Link Love Map: Around the World

Neat!
The map was centered on Iraq when it first came up (not sure if that was intentional or not). Took me a minute to realize I needed to scroll around to see the markers for the links.
Great idea.

Re: Photo Friday: Gulf Shores, Alabama

Yay! Another person who's travel plans are driven by family weddings. Sometimes I think I'm the only one: three summer vacations in a row and counting.
Great photo, btw :)
