I think there has been a large movement for some time toward an uprising of some sort. I see a lot of people becoming very uneasy and the fuse is getting shorter and shorter. Yes, I have heard and read the same reports concerning gun and ammo manufactures who can't keep up with demand. I do think there is a large amount of stockpiling going on in this country. I hope and pray things will not escalate to the level that all this ammo will be used, this would not be the answer. I can't help but wonder though, if you and I see this, does not Washington?

Re: Rock Shrimp Festival in St. Marys

I attended this festival last year and plan on returning. I think Market Man is on the money with this article. Anyone with an once of sense can see what has been happening at the Fed level is nothing more then a ponzi scheme. No it can't and won't work. I think Bennie knew it, or at least he should have known it. If he didn't then he needs to apply to Wal Mart as a door man.
Hang on folks, there are rough seas ahead.

Re: A Beautiful Fernandina Beach Wedding

I think Amelia Island offers one of the best beaches in the world for a wedding cermony. The pure ocean and breeze coupled with a couple bubbling with pure love for one another, how can you go wrong with this picture. Congratulations to the newly weds.

Re: Four Economic Indicators to Watch

A day without a dose of logic from Market Man is like a day without sunshine. I look forward to the articles from Market Man. Wouldn't it be refreshing if only our national news media would put out information like this, or would that just be too scary for the American people? I guess it would be, let's continue to tell them everything is fine and all will be back to normal soon, why not, they have believed it in the past so why not this time? The current problem is too large to fix this time I'm afraid. This time this country will have to act like big boy's and girl's and simply take their medicine, and start over. Thanks Market Man, I'll be watching these indicators.

Re: The Other Side of the Coin that once was the American Dream

Very well put Dr. Ramakers. I think the battle field is yet to see the number of economic dead that is to come. We are to endure a more and more financial disaster and you're right, local governments along with state governments will experience financial strain to the point of mandatory reductions. Yes, we have a very long and difficult road ahead of us yet.

Re: Men and Advice

My point exactly. From a man's point of view the defense shield automatically went up and topics were being put in place to start battle. A women would not be as ready to go to battle as a man. Discussing and using reason may work as well, but most men will not lower themselves to that.
Thanks for proving my point.

Re: Men and Advice

OK I'm going to blow the lid off the man vs woman thing. When it comes to advice I think I would rather have a female on the other end. I believe women give more thought and use sound judgement when giving advice. After all we listened to our mother's advice as we were growing up, it worked then so why not now?

Re: Helen Oktoberfest in Northeast Georgia

Great food, great beer and great people. I guess having the band play music on the deck of the RMS Titanic had a certain soothing calmness for those enjoying the cloudless sky and bright stars. Market Man, I think once again you have brought nothing but the raw truth to your readers, thanks.

Re: Gold is Money

Think of the days when the government deemed it against the law to own gold, the same situation then as now. Just a question.

Re: The State of the Community Bank

Bingo, well said. Banking is a business and is subject to customers putting their money in at a wholesale price and the bank putting it on the streets at retail, turning a profit at the end of the day. I think we are going to see many bank failures in the near future simply because of the "hoarding model" they have taken and the lack of retail customers.

Re: Unemployment Benefits Extended Again

How many more times can we keep doing this? How can this be, I thought things were better, the recession is over, banks are tuff, housing is up and so is Wall Street. So what's up with the very "fire wall" we depend on in our banking system to have problems. I can't wait for the 6;30 news, I bet they have an answer.

Re: Hurricane Season and the Fantome

A giant of a storm can pop up at anytime and change lives in one day. Best advice I have had, living in Florida all my life is to be prepared, don't wait until it's too late. Get things in orde now and have a plan of action. Where are you going to go and what are you taking? These are the two big questions people who have no plans can't answer. Two basic questions we all need to have an answer to every year during hurricane season.

Re: Prepare Now for Your Pot of Gold

I know the feeling of waiting on my ship to come in, I'm usually at the air port when it arrives. The once free buying consumer that fed more and more containers being shipped from China are now learning how to save and buy only what they need, not want. I agree with Market Man, don't believe everything you hear on the evening news. These tuff times will be with us for many years to come.

Re: Stop Nasty Collection Tactics

Many of these collectors are untrained individuals who are not aware of the law, they are only looking for their commission on a collection. We will see more and more collections in the future as we make weak attempts to recover from our present economic state of affairs.

Re: Amateur Night on the Internet is Over

To master the full use of the Internet today does require professional help. Their views on life are so pure and matter of fact, we as "adults" can't overcome that level of inteligence all the time. Be careful what you say around children, they see it for what it is, not what you "think" it is.

Re: The National Debt

Market Man, this reminds me of the guy who never really had anything and most of his life had to depend upon government or other people to just get by. One day he buys a lottery ticket and "bingo" he wins. All of a sudden he finds himself with pockets full of money, a big house and big cars, maybe a bodyguard or two. For a while he is on top of the world and others see him now as a "special" person who knows a lot, (about what, that is never defined in these cases) and soon, very soon he has blown it all and there is nothing left. The current situation in Washington is an example of the lottery winner, who will soon become the looser, the only problem is it is not just one person but generations to come who are loosing. Babies who aren't even born yet are going to be welcomed into this world with a debt around there necks. Is this winning, or loosing?

Re: Pondering Questions that have Plagued Us for Months

End badly, I think that may be an under statement of how our financial markets may really end up. Yes, I agree with Market Man, this so called rally will end and it will not be pretty. There are many who go about their everyday lives with their heads in the sand and pretend it is all ok and everything will come back as it once was, folks I hope you don't fall into that catagory. Unemployment is up, manufacturing is down, housing market continues to fall and everyday we are loosing value in our largest investments, our real estate, banks are taking on more and more foreclosures and we are to believe things are better. Get the popcorn, the ending of this show will be something never seen before, not even by Hollywood.

Re: Recipe for a Happy Marriage

Great advice and for once I thing the Brits may have it right.
