Appreciated. Your last paragraph kind of hits the nail on the head. I fully understand the 'rollbacks' in the retail world. Just came to my mind as I was posting....mostly to the 'ill informed'. I freely admitt I sometimes suffer from the 'Norma Rae' syndrome.

Re: Blog: WakeUpWalmart.com and Activists Demand Walmart Change its Sick Day Policy | Wal-Mart Watch | Fighting for Wal-Mart Workers | Employee Free Choice Act

Getting back to the original post concerning Wal-Mart 'sick day policy'.....This is the of the most abused policies dictated by salaried mangement.
For those 'salaried managers' lurking in the shadows here, perusing these blogs, what is your corporate policies on YOUR SICK DAYS or ABSENCES?

Re: Blog: Shaw’s Grocery Chain Implodes in Connecticut | Wal-Mart Watch | Fighting for Wal-Mart Workers | Employee Free Choice Act

Raising prices at Wal-Mart happens all the time. You save in one aisle, the next aisle you loose. One problem is regular shoppers must pay attention to is 'roll back' pricing. One week the price is raised, sometimes by 50 cents. Wal-Mart leaves this price for, say, a week or so, then introduces the roll back price, back to the oringinal price to begin with. Sneaky, but effective for profits. Second question, Yes, but Wal-Mart, currently will never entertain this concept. The third question.....Stockholders would react, and board members, with absolute distain in regards to this measure. The bottom line is to MAKE MONEY, PERIOD! Wages are not the primary issue right now to the Wal-mart associates, It is the policies and treatment of associates.

Re: Blog: WakeUpWalmart.com and Activists Demand Walmart Change its Sick Day Policy | Wal-Mart Watch | Fighting for Wal-Mart Workers | Employee Free Choice Act

2002.....who cares! Combined retail which have produce, foodstuffs, meat are certainly capping wages and hours. Sign of the times. Second ? No. workers who excell will always get the benifit of employment, along as they abide with company policies. Qestion 3....raises are given annually, usually 40 cents per hour. Some more, depending on the store budget. Although there is salary caps, which I strongly disagree with.
With all the curent policies and programs Wal-Mart is instituting at the present, Unions would be a benifit for policies only, and most of all employee protection an abuse, which is becoming more widespread. This is called by fear at all levels. When people talk union, they automatically think wages. During this economic uncertainty, my belief is everybody has 'to suck it up' for the time being. Having said this, YES, I strongly believe unions will eventually become very active and win at Wal-Mart. When I drum my fingers on the table, I wonder where are they? What is their plan? When is there going to be some serious movement?

Re: Walmart Fires Another 300

Thank you for posting the above statement. That is correct. One is Canadian, the other is American.
" there is 6 times as many CT scans and MRI units per capita in the US than in Canada. " Population comparison is Canada, population 36 million versus United States, approaching 400 million. So, yes, it would stand to reason why the ratio. The concept of any union trying to organize Wal-mart should not be solely about wages.
