If you build that service, I'll use it :D

Re: Just Some Kid

Great post Kevin. Looking forward to the rest of the series!

Re: blog dot vox dolo dot me | Given Due Consideration

Yeah, you can do precisely what you suggest. We've thus far avoided doing that on the project we're developing this technique on, but are looking into selectively enabling selenium or culerity mode in webrat for just the examples that need it.

Re: blog dot vox dolo dot me | Given Due Consideration

Coulda made the rounds at the office at the end of last week. To be honest, I dismissed it largely for sitting on top of Test::Unit... for better or worse, I've got a couple years worth of rspec under my fingers, so I'm reluctant to move to a different framework (especially to one I intentionally left some time ago). That's not an entirely fair assessment though, and it looks like Evan has done some good work there, so I'll definitely dig into it a bit deeper. thanks!

Re: blog dot vox dolo dot me | Given Due Consideration

That's a valid point Nic. It remains to be seen *how* much faster using Webrat and Rspec-rails is than with Cucumber sitting on top of it. My feeling is: enough to matter, but that's hardly quantitative. The speed issue which I'm most interested in is that of speed of development, since it means I'm more likely to get proper integration coverage (since I don't feel like it's a millstone around my neck). My speed of development using this technique has been markedly faster (again, that's hardly quantitative).

Re: ReinH — Bad Designers Steal Too

To be really clear: Rein was obviously making light with the comments about evildoers. If you don't get that, then shame on *you*. Further, as a couple of people have pointed out, it's just bad form to use someone's design wholesale, even when it's in an Open Source project. Case in point: when Mephisto was originally published, Justin made it very clear that it *was not* okay to use the design of the admin interface, even though it was distributed as part of an OSS project. Maybe the failing point was that Rein wasn't communicative enough about this. God forbid you assume people have a lick of sense.
