However, the last "trick" that you did here does not actually follow the guidelines, since the typealias is just that, an alias. The type of the parameter is still the same, a string, and thus it can lead to problems when overloading that method/function.

Using your example:


typealias Path = String
typealias Host = String

func url(for path: Path) -> URL {  }
func url(for host: Host) -> URL { } // Error, same type as the previous one

let url = url(for: "local") // What wall the compiler use here?

You would have to upgrade that typealias to a full type, which would mean more lines of code. For example a Struct for this would be probably the best option:


struct Path {
    let value: String
    init(_ value: String) { self.value = value }
}

struct Host {
    let value: String
    init(_ value: String) { self.value = value }
}

func url(for path: Path) -> URL { }
func url(for host: Host) -> URL { } // Works, different types

let url = url(for: Host("local"))
let path = Path("local")
let url = url(for: path)

Of course the usefulness of this depends on whether you want this type safety and whether you are going to reuse these types a lot or not.

Ended shows are not updated right when the last episode is aired to give some time to users to download the latest episodes. We remove them manually after a certain time, so you will shortly see those banners if you have ended shows.

Hi Andres,
Regrettably, one of our sources added these fake torrents and I don't exactly understand the reason (it uploads dozens of torrents a day).
That source will not be used anymore, so I hope no more of these torrents will appear in the future.
Sorry for the inconveniences, and please notice that you would need to unsubscribe/resubscribe to those shows in order to download the "good" episodes when they appear.

The episode list updates itself in the interval set by the preferences. Also, every time you see the episode list :P

Not sure what you mean, the refresh button in the show list (Add Show->left bottom corner) refreshes the whole list of feeds sources for all shows.

Then, you can force a check for new episodes by clicking in the "Check for new episodes" option in the menubar icon. Alternatively, every time you open the TVShows prefpane a check is done.

Hola javiquil, la serie Alphas ya está añadida a la lista de series predefinidas. Refresca la lista (botón abajo a la izquierda de la lista) y la podrás añadir. De hecho yo el primero me lo bajé así (y en HD).

@EveryonE Yahoo! Pipes did upgrade the pipe automatically to their v2 engine, so that is why it was broken.I have modified it now so it is working again :)

Yeah, also if the RSS does not have any episode, the button will remain disabled. In the next release you can subscribe to an empty RSS if you want (a warning will appear).

Hola Asier. Hay veces que Yahoo! Pipes está saturado o, como muy posiblemente te pase ahora, no te deje usarlo porque has bajado muchos (TVShows lo usa internamente). En ese caso te dará Error 999 y tendrás que esperar alrededor de una hora hasta que puedas volver a usarlo. Así que vuelve dentro de un rato y me cuentas si te ha funcionado o no.

Otra opción es ir a la página del usuario:

http://thepiratebay.org/use...

Y coger el RSS (arriba a la derecha, icono naranja). Luego en TVShows filtras por el nombre de la serie que quieras bajas. Lo malo de este método es que si ningún episodio de esa serie se encuentra entre los últimos subidos por el usuario, no verás nada en la lista de episodios.

Tienes que tener en cuenta que en el cambio de una versión "menor" a otra siempre ha habido programas que han dejado de funcionar. Sin ir más lejos, en el cambio de Tiger a Leopard muchos más programas dejaron de funcionar. Es inevitable que algo deje de funcionar, hay programas que se basan mucho en pequeñas peculiaridades de X versión. Sucede en Mac, sucede en Windows y sucede en Linux, no hay una forma sencilla de arreglarlo. Hay que tener en cuenta que para hacer una aplicación no solo hay que contar con el desarrollo inicial, sino que hay que tener un mantenimiento casi continuo. Los desarrolladores de las aplicaciones, sobre todo las comerciales, han tenido acceso a la versión de desarrollador de Snow Leopard para, precisamente, evitar este tipo de situaciones.

En este caso casi todos los problemas vienen por los 64bits, más bien porque algunos servicios del sistema están en 64bits, y algunos programas no son trivialmente "compilables con el flag -64", sino que están programados a un nivel muy bajo y tienen sutiles problemas de memoria. Aparte de eso, hay que reconocer que Apple ha hecho un fantástico trabajo en la gradual transición hacia los 64bits, mucho más limpia de lo que se esperaba.

Aún así, no estoy defendiendo a Snow Leopard, para mí una actualización menor que no sé muy bien cómo tomarla. Salvo esas mejoras internas, es prácticamente clavada a Leopard. De todos lo años que llevo actualizando SOs, esta actualización ha sido la menos traumática... y la que menos me ha aportado.

No me gustan los toros y creo firmemente que es una tortura, pero me ha encantado esta entrevista.

El momento de Domecq con su programa informático es brutal, y claramente se aprecia cómo el mejor camino para triunfar en un campo (tan tradicional como ese) es adaptarse y aprovechar al máximo las nuevas tecnologías.
