They are both great and meet very different needs. The Nook Color is great for portable reading. It seems well made and very durable. I would be fine taking it just about anywhere. I take it to the coffee shop and read my books for long periods at a time (no eye strain). Can comfortably hold the Nook in one hand while drinking my coffee with the other. Performance is good.  Screen is very sharp.  For short periods of time this Nook works great for email, etc.  I could do email all day on my iPad.  I'm typing this comment on my Nook and there is a slight lag.  I understand there wikk be an update for these shortly tomake it faster.  There is no easy wayto edit text such as my typo above.
