I think not. Yes, it must adapt or die. But it IS adapting. It owns Vine. And it's retooling to become more visual -- indeed more like Facebook. It remains the "social media franca" of the Internet -- the least common denominator for quick, fast online sharing with the largest group possible.

But that's not necessarily a very compelling place to be, even for a marketer. People want to be able to tell there stories in as many different ways as possible. Twitter's focus on 140 characters is certainly limiting, and the massive breadth has created an apparent lack of depth. But if you dive into the platform, into cards, into Vine (launched by Twitter in 2013), you see the capacity for much more.

I don't expect Twitter, if you'll forgive me, to die on the Vine. I expect more to come from the platform cum portal.

Re: My Path Once Again Goes In A New Direction

I'm not holding my breath, C.C., BUT, I haven't canceled my iTunes Podcast subscription either... ;-)

Re: Go Girls Go!

It's a great campaign. You do need another phone, but you can do an awful lot without one (and without racking up any GV charges). While we finally broke down and bought a proper phone system (a hosted VoIP Digium Switchvox system), GV worked well for a long while.

Re: Old amusements book for new men

I love the name of the publishing house...

Re: North Korean Archaeologists Re-Discover Ancient Unicorn’s Lair

Somebody needs to ship the PRK an aid package consisting of tins of the "unicorn meat" being sold on ThinkGeek right now...

Re: Ask NASA About the End of the World This Afternoon

Love it.
