Ja myös siellä uudistetaan rahoitusmalleja agressiivisesti (sillä perinteinen VC malli on jo todettu monella tavalla ongelmalliseksi). ks. esim. http://premoney.co/

Sillä oikeastaan ainoastaan parasmaineisemmat VC tuottaa hyvää tulosta omille sijoittajilleen, mutta enemmän maineensa (houkuttelee parhaista yrityksistä parhaat, joista valitsee vain parhaat), eikä toimintamallinsa johdosta. The problem here is not too much money, but how it's now distributed.

VC industry is starting to look like the newspaper industry ;) - better to wake up, the blogs are coming...
--

-- Back to today.

Like blogs, there needs to be more channels distributing money to startups and these channels need to have skin in the game. PLEASE NOTE: I’m not saying more money is needed..

It's great to be working in this space globally to develop for the future of funding and now it’s really starting to get many people react to what’s becoming “a very obvious thing”. - Funding startups is about to change forever - and this progress is unstoppable.

“You just can’t put tooth paste back in the tube!”

It’s impossible to think that when the Facebook generation grows up to be an investors in startups, that they would ever accept the way the startup funding is done today (specially in the early stage) and trust me SV have it good as it is, much better than the rest of the world. - For those thinking how undeveloped these new tools are, the thing to understand is that, all this is just a beginning and that tools will continue to develop, as those always do.

After the biggest disruption - everyone involved have found their own new positions in the changed landscape. Those being on the very top of the food chain will do just fine i.e. LP’s and giant VC’s (as long as they keep their eyes open) as will those embrasing these new powertools, learing to read the signals right etc. This change will also generate the new Ron Conway’s of the future and their reach will be much wider than just one part of the world.

A great learning process shared by @fabricegrinda: http://www.fabricegrinda.co... shows an interesting learning progress from the angles perspective in this changing landscape.

Those people in the middle that are fighting against the change will end up just being forgotten - no more dramatic than that.

What’s amazing to see, is that we all (generation internet) can relate to what has happened to news industry, following with so many others - things are so easy to see and now we also start to see how things are settling after the fact, at least for a while. But when the disruption hits to own industry – suddenly those same people that see the other industries being disrupted by internet go into denial when it’s hitting too close to home.

The point I’m making – choosing to close eyes or being in denial does not help, as it’s important to secure your own position in changing landscape. Whatever it is, you need to be sure it’s the best one for you, at least for the time you plan to say in the game – but to do that, you need to keep the “radio on”.

--- repeating what I also said two years back and what I’m saying now.

The money will be spread to more potential startups and more of them will not go via IPO but just buy back their own of shares, mergers between startups etc. with lower ROI. But that's OK if the time for ROI is shorter and cost of management is lower.

So - be more direct, spread wider, lower the management cost, speed up the ROI cycle and you can accept lower ROI.

Check out the full post and the dialogue at: http://www.avc.com/a_vc/200...

Re: Frustration Entrepreneurship Anyone?

So you were one of the lucky ones to be "let go" :)

I hope more people see things the way you do. An internet based solution is the only way to really be able to bring these services to markets and help connect local projects to global resources. This way we want to help connect hot spot cities, resources, expertise's etc. to developing startup ecosystems all in one platform. It's not uncommon that the entrepreneurial spirit and will is very strong in developing markets and by enabling more equal resources, interesting results is to be expected.

Re: The new worldwide startup

We are betting big to cater to this global movement http://ow.ly/1daaJ - the new "Silicon Valley" will not be a physical location, it's as simple as that and that's what the smart people in SV have already seen and are now taking action... Like any really good sales person knows, "selling" is all about telling the story behind the "thing" that is been sold. That story can be told in many ways, with words, pictures, etc. The "story" is why the artist is doing what they do and then talking about the art they have created in the past. The best representative and story teller is the artist.

If nobody cares about the story the artist is telling, there will not be audience either and then the artist is only artist to him/herself.
