That's a character I'd watch on the big screen.

Either way, I hope they use Carnage as a villain. Other than Spider-Man, he's the only other character that would really qualify as Venom's nemesis, and he's an interesting character in his own right.

Re: Guy Ritchie is directing Lobo

I think Vinnie Jones would be the better choice. Plus, Jason Statham is too short.

Re: Peter Berg reunites cast of Hancock for sequel?

See, the second half of the first movie should have been THIS movie. The first one didn't spend enough time exploring Hancock's character or the concept of him being the only superhero in the world, as well as a massive jerk. It jumped way too quickly into the origin story, which should have been hinted at, and then explored further in the second film. Just my thoughts.

Re: A Fantastic Fresh Start

Can't say I care too much about Fox holding the rights to Fantastic 4 or Daredevil (although it would make a Civil War movie, if it ever happened, a bit more difficult), but Silver Surfer and the goddamn X-Men? In Fox's hands? Forever?

Ugh.

Re: Nikolaj Arcel jumps into Deadman

I'm totally ok with this. Always thought Deadman was a great character.

Re: Guy Ritchie is directing Lobo

This made me want to cry for joy, up until I saw the PG-13 comment...then it made me want to cry for a different reason.

Re: Disney Is Buying Marvel

I can't exactly remember where I read this quote, but i think it sums up the situation pretty well:

"Disney is not buying Marvel because they want to change Marvel. Disney is buying Marvel because they want to buy Marvel's audience."

Marvel has a built-in audience and, ignoring the recession, has been doing quite well with both their film projects and their comics. It wouldn't make sense for Disney to change things up and alienate thousands of regular customers, many of whom are staunchly loyal and viciously support the status-quo; it DOES make sense to get behind a company with an expanding repetoire of projects and a near-limitless pool of subject material.

I think what people forget is that this is the Disney corporation that's buying Marvel, not Disney Animation Studios; Disney owns Miramax, ABC, ESPN, Touchstone, and many other adult-oriented companies, and it's not as if Mickey Mouse is running through all their films and programs (with the exception of ABC Kids, I suppose). Even if they hadn't already released a statement saying that they intend to keep creative control safely in the hands of Marvel, it'd be unreasonable to assume that they're just going to "PG13-ify" everything. Will things change for Marvel? Maybe, but I think those changes will be more along the lines of business plans and production deals, as opposed to de-clawing Wolverine or turning Ghost Rider into a pupet show.

Re: Bryan Singer to revisit the Battlestar Galactica franchise with new film

That's a good thing, then. I'd say Season 4 follows in the same vein as the final episodes of Season 3.

Re: Bryan Singer to revisit the Battlestar Galactica franchise with new film

Yes, that was a bit of a quagmire. Luckily, they do away with all that kind of drama in the fourth season. And not only are the characters more consistent, but they take some of them in very interesting (but completely reasonable) directions, especially Felix, Apollo, Six and Baltar.

And there are more space battles, and a very cool scene in the final episode. Overall, I'd say it redeems the previous season.

Re: Bryan Singer to revisit the Battlestar Galactica franchise with new film

I think this news post has caused me to develop a new love/hate relationship, Trisha.

On the one hand, I love BSG, and I love Singer.

On the other, it's a bit soon for a stand-alone movie, and I don't think I'd be able to get into a movie with a different story and different actors. I'd rather he re-make X3. We've all had enough time to forget about it :)

And Gordon, I thought Season 4 was better, and I found the ending very satisfying. But then, I didn't have much of a problem with Season 3, so take that with a grain of salt. If the whole "Final 5" thing turned you off, then you might not be too crazy about Season 4, but there are several excellent episodes that aren't Final 5-centric that would be worth checking out regardless.

Re: DJ Caruso directing a Dead Space film

What I love most about the game is how incredibly cinematic the whole thing is. That whole trailer? All gameplay. It's so streamlined and so immersive, there were several times where I failed to realize that I was supposed to be playing the game instead of being so absorbed by what I thought was an in-game cutscene.

If Caruso can capture how creepy, beautiful, intriguing and God-damned immersive the game was, then I'm totaly on board, because Dead Space is exactly what any good Sci-Fi/Horror movie should be, and I've been waiting for the movie ever since I finished the game.
