Though in Chicago, CTA only stops at designated posted bus stops,in Evanston bus stops can be either posted or flag stops. CTA itself is conflicted on what is where in Evanston.

As a retired CTA bus operator and supervisor, I have seen bus instruction no longer covering this in training. However most conscientious "Owl" operators will make "courtesy" stops for intending passengers.

The #87 bus has an "Owl" overnight from the Red Line to Western. From 87th and Western to 91st and Commercial the #87 operates from 4:00 am to !:00 the next day.

The Evanston protected bicycle lane on Sheridan Road and Chicago Avenue is an excellent routing for inexperienced Northwestern student bicyclist.

After I visited St. Petersburg in 2004 I only remembered 2 minor inconveniences when riding the Metro. I could not see station signs when riding on the Metro and had to resort to counting station stops. Also the monthly pass was 2 parts, one for the Metro and the other for trams and buses. I requires to show both at the same time. Otherwise the system was excellent.

Simmonds Drive which is east of Lake Shore Drive has an overpass between Wilson and Lawrence over a driveway connecting with a parking lot. I wonder if anyone attempted to pitch a tent at this location and were successful?

Hamburg, Gremany has roving portable speed cameras. Motorist created an app that informs of their locations.

They are:
PACE #352 -24 hours a day 7 days a week.

CTA #8A -7 days a week early morning through early evening
CTA #108-Monday through Friday morning rush hour and early afternoon through mid evening.

Northern Indiana Commuter Transit District (NICTD) has ticket vending machines at every station and the system works very well. However, outlier passengers who wish to travel between two local stations (say East Chicago and Hammond) can probably successfully evade payment by not having their tickets punched.

With these proposed changes weekend evening employees who work at Old Orchard Mall and travel to Howard Red Line will lose their direct service. The last CTA #97-Skokie Bus departs Old Orchard at 8:30pm on Saturday and 8:50 on Sunday. After these times the CTA #97-Skokie Bus terminates at Dempster Yellow Line whereas on weekdays this route makes all trips to Old Orchard until 10:30pm. Apparently PACE and CTA never either addressed this problem or refuse to cooperate and coordinate.

This would require over a 1 mile walk to travel from Old Orchard to Skokie Yellow Line Station since no bus service from these points at these hours on these days.

The CTA #97-Skokie Bus last 4 trips on Saturday and last 3 trips on Sunday terminate at Dempster Yellow Line. The rrunning and recovery time extending these trips to Old Orchard is 30 minutes per round trip for and additional total running time on Saturday of 2.0 hours and Sunday 1.5 additional hours. For transit users who work the evening shift live in Rogers Park or South Evanston or wish to connect with the Red Line using the possible alternatives is an extreme.

Thank you for the accurate reporting. Unfortunately workers in the vicinity of the Old Orchard Mall and work the weekend evening shift, will be stranded unless the CTA #97-Skokie Bus is extended to 10:30pm. They were unable to attend this meeting because they were at work.

The location of Kedzie and Chicago Avenue is 1/2 a mile from the Metra Union Pacific West Line Kedzie Station at Kedzie and Kinzie. This station has limited daytime service and no evening or weekend service. If this station begins to experience a increase in usage, perhaps a station at Kedzie and Chicago Avenue would be worthy of discussion.

Regarding a proposed station at Division/Grand/Central Park, the CTA had stations on the Humboldt Park 'L' at St. Louis/Bloomingdale and Lawndale/Bloomingdale until 1952. The North Avenue Limited replacement bus also was also discontinued for lack of patronage. The Metra Milwaukee District West Line new Grand/Cicero Station has limited weekday service and no weekend service. Perhaps if this station experiences an increase in use, a proposed station at Division/Grand/Central Park could have a possibility in the future.

Commuters using Metra's Ravenswood Station are equally divided between inbound riding and reverse riding to the suburbs.
The Kedzie Station on Metra's Union Pacific West Line are almost entirely reverse riders .

Since CTA was created in 1947, bus operators and streetcar motor people and conductors were instructed to always allow riders to board no matter how overcrowded the vehicle. Finally after 73 years, someone at CTA took the the initiative to revise this archaic "standard operating procedure".

CTA accordion buses were delivered with an operator activated toggle switch to open rear doors. Standard buses are probably being updated to have an equivalent feature.
