Vance has low numbers today. Two years of incumbency could change that.
I'm not disagreeing with you about what a yutz Vance is. I personally think he's Ted Cruz-level unlikable and creepy as fuck (the couch thing stuck because it was totally believable).
Give him a two-year "grown into the office under trying circumstances" arc, and that will change. Plus, he can hardly do worse than the last year and a half.

Is there any indication if Thiel's abandonment of taking control of the country through Vance is real?
I'm just conspiracy-minded enough to believe that someone is trying to Weekend at Bernie's 47 to January '27 so Vance has 10 years, but if his sugar daddy has left him, then that changes the calculus quite a bit.

There will always be people (percentage unknown) who will treat anything published in it as "Well, the Washington Post said.." (see also: "Well, the New York Times said...").
The most important part of that group is the career politicians who have been doing it reflexively for a few decades.
He's going to keep publishing a steady stream of "taxes on the rich would be bad, m'kay?" editorials, and at least one member of Congress will nod along and use their power to block any progress on taxing rich people.

That was exactly the Cruise model. Cautious to the point of being a pain in the ass to share the road with turned into an aggressive driver that kills someone. Waymo is absolutely going the same direction. Quite possibly in response to the mass 404 error with the fleet when the power went out city-wide a few weeks ago where all the traffic lights went out and they all turned into bricks.

(Just kidding. He's simply a really, really bad politician. By which I mean, he is bad at the act of doing politics, not just that he's a pile of suckyness in a suit and with an expensive haircut. He's certainly that as well, but he has one-fifth of Harris's raw political talent.)

Considering DHS has failed every single test since it's creation, that seems only reasonable.
(Referring specifically to the events of January 6, 2021 when every lefty who was remotely online was posting "Stay TF away from DC on the 6th" and DHS was either sitting around with their collective thumbs up their asses or actively collaborating with the domestic terrorists.)

I have been sending small holiday gifts to friends in Germany for 20 years.
Got one box returned this year due to the customs form. Resent through DHL. Got a note from the recipient that DHL needed more info on the customs form (about a $3.00 calendar).
I fucking hate these people so much.

I read something years ago, a Republican in Congress talking to a Democratic colleague basically saying that when their consultants lost, they took them behind the chemical shed and shot them (didn't hire them again), and he couldn't believe that the Democrats keep hiring the same people who lose campaigns.

The President is unable to differentiate fantasy from reality.
This has been the case for quite some time.
It has gotten obviously worse over the past few months.
Every single safeguard that was supposed to kick in if this were to happen has failed.
Personally, I think this is a problem. A serious one that requires a serious response. Unfortunately, we are currently lead by deeply unserious people.
