Newspapers used to be locally owned with morning and afternoon competitors and radio / broadcast had local independence. All chains now with at best AP stories cut to fit around ads. And Media is FOX, Disney, Viacom with Newscorp and Tribune Cos taking the place of the original HearstNews Empires 'Yellow Journalsitim'. Even new tech is continuing to further 'Dumb Down' the population... tweets anyone?

Once democrats learn to tap this new communications genre of the 'larger populace' and revile their opponents in a way this crowd can handle will they catch a wave... two syllables and minimal length gang or the message , however correct is lost!

Re: Largest North American Newsprint Manufacturer Files for Chap. 11 - mediabistro.com: FishbowlNY

Print media is collapsing by urban area, by publication type, in segments, sections, etc... and all those unemployed writer, editor, tradesman, laborer positions and vacant real estate is a huge loss to the employee, their family, community, etc.

A LARGE problem is this is not centralized like the auto industry is relative to Michigan. Therefore no strong local base to get broad support from politicians, who can dole out supportive legislation and money .

The entire MEDIA community needs to assemble somewhere, break into working groups and come up with IDEAS to re-examine itself and save their industry. Is the internet the answer .. or a lite-weight medium ? Is the world of journalism soundbites for network and cable TV ? Are the few survivors of print going to have inordinate power of the press? and where could that lead ?

So much is happening and where are the powers to stop, listen and understand if their industry is to continue into collapse ?

This is a very serious road that 'theMedia Industry' is traveling !!!

Re: Keep Your Jobs, But Leave The Money At The Door - mediabistro.com: MediaJobsDaily

This is where unions have the chance to hire their own accountants and consultants to measure business viabilty going forward.

Just being 'protective' of rules, pay, retirement issues, etc are all 'Olde school' and they (the union) may very well contribute to a complete collapse!

Unions can dig into their own larder and get serious about saving their own interests which includes a strong company because without employees on payrolls...Unions too are Banko!

Re: NBC Launches Tim Russert Fellowship Program - mediabistro.com: TVNewser

Well if you didn't have a chance in H- -l, now you do. Excellent idea and execution of plan to honor Tim Russert.
Honestly how many other media companies (or any U.S. Corporation for that matter) have established such a postion to assist young professionals while honoring either someone who left tragically or after many excellent years and retired with honor...how many ?
Good on NBC !

Re: Israeli Paper Airbushes Women Out of Picture - mediabistro.com: FishbowlNY

Just the same tyranny imposed on 'Others' with intent to subjugate them.

So cameras were around during Old Testament and Torah has passages about photographs.

Go to Ammish country (any settlement) and same, or conservative Islamic... But how many consumers know about Asus vs Dell, Samsung, HP, Acer as example ? And your pricing/ net profit model fits with the whole group since they are all seeing substantial price reductions just as screen size and power of batteries and processors are increasing. Asus may be the centerpiece but as a consumer name (?) and the more easily it is identified with the greater market, the greater the interest and demand...and your research. This is a really terrific product and with the mini price...they are not hearalded at retailers like the more expensive notebooks...but they are a super alternative and please keep promoting them and writing !

Re: Will Netbook Prices Rise with Windows 7 Installed? - mediabistro.com: MobileDevicesToday

Todd has a message here, but the audience is thin ! These netbooks are serious and excellent thin, lightweight, highly portable and Serious Business Tools, but I'd suspect the thin sales margins keep them to the 'on-line' sales market vs featured items at Best BUY or other 'remaining' retailers. The power is now greater than Todd's example and the inexpensive portable storage also easy transference. Go on the road with one of these...you'll never take that bigger, heavier notebook out again !!!! Good comment but GREAT PRODUCT, check these 'netbooks' out out at Amazon or other web site.

Re: Live Blog: Jim Cramer on The Daily Show - TVNewser

Cramer came out to clown around in his silly rolled sleeves open collar and sans jacket reserved for his own now 'entertainment' show". Stuart was on an entirely serious plane...and dismantled the defensive comments Cramer claimed with actual tapes that took out each Cramer statement.

The comments already asking WHERE is the REAL Press on investigating CNBC's claims of solid biz news plus the seriousness of 'Buy and Sell' recommendations when Cramer admitted several times that companies lie, CEO's lie, his guest lied on air and to his face. Interesting...did CNBC pick up on those 'lies' or ignore them?
Serious biz investigators would have grabbed the opportunities... but no one did.

So it's unfortunate that a Comedian scraped the surface and found so much misrepresentation on CNBC without getting into individual guests who misrepresented so much....Jon just basically pointed out CNBC wasn't doing the job and in fact they (CNBC) where seriously involved in serious misrepresentations themselves... Hello, NY Press Corp ? Int'l Press Corp.... uhhh Pennysaver...?
