Most employers do not offer ANY retiree health insurance, so to most of us this is a very nice benefit. Also, you chose the most expensive plan choice to use in your letter, you could choose one of the other plans that have a copay or deductible (which is probably what you had before for $18) and it would be much less. They have plans that are as low as $60/month. I do agree that the spousal coverage isn't great , but like I said most people don't have ANY retiree plan at all. I understand that this was a benefit promised back in a time when things were much different, I think they have made a compromise that should be good for both employer/retiree. As for years to come, not sure how well it will work if they don't raise those amounts.

Re: NY's online health insurance website suffers clitches

I knew it. On the other hand the school district now has the family plan costs to pay...do the saugerties employees pay for their insurance (percentage?)? If they do then I do not understand what the problem is here.... A person would have to weigh which plan costs more out of pocket...skip the buyout and go on the school districts plan then...not really solving anything here.

Re: Kingston Mayor Shayne Gallo steps up opposition to Sophie Finn/UCCC plan (with video replay of press conference)

I have been in my neighborhood for over 20 years as well, and I have seen it change throughout the years.
