I do. But I don't think it's accurate nor constructive. The email critique is spot on. I suppose they would argue that they are protecting us from terrorists or something.

However, the partisan political stuff is pretty standard fare for a nonprofit organization that wants to remain nonpartisan. They do not extend this policy to all protests and picket lines, however, as this article suggests. I know that the Student Coalition on Expansion and Gentrification was able to hold a rally on university walk last year with the support of the SGB, and they invited a number of political candidates to speak. So as someone who shares your critical attitude towards the University's administration, I would urge you to point your canon elsewhere, because there's no reason to scare new students into not protesting or participating politically for fear of reprisal. After the terrible PR nightmare in 1968, all Columbia had left of its dignity was its claim to supporting free speech. They're not going to give that up.

Re: Who runs Columbia: Find out who is large and in charge

This is nonsense. GS is one of the four undergraduate schools that make up Columbia's undergrad program. They aren't given a mention. Nice. Also, these are the people who run the ACADEMIC side of columbia. The administrative side certainly have the power of the purse and the rudder when it comes to ACTUAL power. But something tells me these details will be lost on this author.
