I noticed this weekend that even the Downtown Nampa Albertsons had Stone IPA in six-packs.

We're movin' on up!

Re: Weekend Tunes

Ha! I didn't even pick this one out, Monty gave it to me a couple of weeks ago, it's what got me to do the bock week tho. I do see the Stone connection.

Really a great beer.

Re: Friday 5.1

Yeah, that's exactly the problem with the beer dinners, lots of really good beer -- kinda pointless to have only one or two.

Well, that'll put a damper on the Sockeye dinner then :(. Hmm, maybe a Sockeye brunch is in order?

(just replied back to ya)

It's now on the calender T-SAL, I won't forget again.

Re: Friday 5.1

Hate to say it, but he's going to lose. The House won't increase taxes this year or next, they'll slip in things here and there, but they won't raise any straight forward taxes, the only ones the villagers seem to care about.

Re: Friday 5.1

Oh, it is and I'll come over for that, but then it's easier to moderate, but a beer dinner with really good beer? Eh, notsomuch, I've pushed my luck over the course of the years and I'm just not willing to risk it anymore.

I'll just have to stick to the weekend festivities, and I'm ok with that.

Re: Friday 5.1

The Deschutes dinner sounds really awesome -- apparently Mirror Mirror is supposed to be a really excellent beer. I'm was blessed with a wonderful wife, but unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it) she likes most of these beers as much as I do.

I really don't like drinking that much and driving back to Nampa. I wouldn't mind heading over for the Sockeye dinner on the 16th when we can prolly just stay in Boise.

Re: Thursday 4.30

I do agree that trying it out bi-weekly would be a good measure of whether or not a year-round or summer-round market would work or not.

If it was at the proposed location where Frazier said the indoor or winter aspect of it would be considerably smaller, thus allowing for winter veggies, canned stuff, breads, meats, etc... and also people could see their "crap" as I like to call it, similar to Pike Place in Seattle. There are also quite a few organic greenhouses in the valley that produce some produce year-round. And it could be augmented by out of state organics, just think of it as the produce section at the Co-op, just bigger.

Either way it still beats buying produce from out of the country, nothing quite like going to local stores and seeing asparagus that came from Mexico, going WTF, and shaking your head.

Re: Thursday 4.30

Something cold?

I'd say just go with any of the spring seasons you can find -- leaning towards the Drifter Pale Ale tho...

Re: Thursday 4.30

I think it's a great idea too. One would think that Boise has the population to support it.

We get a lot of veggies at Wissell Farms out on Greenhurst and Lake Lowell, it's only about a mile or so away, super prices, great produce and the people there rock. Man, when they get their sweet corn in, I bet I get 6 ears every other day, really good stuff. I'll probably do a story about them here in a bit after the remodel is done.

Re: Thursday 4.30

This is the one that I use:

http://www.charbroil.com/Co...

Picked it up last year for 170-180 or something. It's worked out pretty well, granted I don't get that much use out of it, we leave it up at Donnelly. Although I'll probably bring it down this year after camping season is over.

I didn't at first either (it could still be argued that I still don't), but luckily it's hard to mess up meat when you're smoking it, you can, but it's more forgiving than grilling.

Man, I'm wanting some BBQ now. Shame on you.

Re: Thursday 4.30

Thanks! I hope ya keep coming back.

Yeah, that's what I've heard, similar to what was/or not going on with Dave Frazier's idea for a "real" farmers market in Boise.

http://boiseguardian.com/20...

Re: Thursday 4.30

Oh, yeah, teaspoons sorry.

I use this a lot on blackened salmon too, it's a pretty versatile rub. In fact I just used it last night on some Boca Burgers I grilled. I make a big batch up every so often and use it whenever.

Don't know about the honeydew in the agua, I always dry smoke.

Re: Thursday 4.30

I think that'd be good.

One that is actually pretty good is this one that is supposed to replicate the rub that Outback uses on their steaks (yeah, we used to eat there). My brother-in-law uses it on baby backs quite a bit, it's a good rub.

http://www.recipezaar.com/O...

(just cut the salt back two tablespoons for pork)

Re: Wednesday 4. 29

I wouldn't want Nonini to work for me period, but I bet Duane Hagadone enjoys having him in his employ.

Re: Thursday 4.23

True, but one could argue that Oktoberfest is a central part of "Beerfest" and that, is a pretty well rooted part of beer culture. I do agree there are a lot of better activities/beers that are part of the culture, but an overindulgence of Bavarian swill is still a part of beer's illustrious history.

Nevertheless I really enjoyed your list.

Thanks for stopping by.

Re: Tuesday 4.28

That's why I stick to Flying M, well, I stick to Flying M because the coffee is the best and the owners are out of this world.

Kinda agree with Sisyphus, whether people like Ledgard or not, it's the message that needs to be scrutinized.

Re: Monday 4.27

Hmm, I'm torn on this.

Yeah, a consumer shouldn't have to buy local, they are certainly free to shop anywhere they please, the Governor? That's a different story, he's the head honcho of the state, the new spokesman for Buy Idaho, even if he doesn't prefer it, he should buck up and buy a more local product.

Sometimes there are pitfalls to being the leader, you do things you don't want to, and for Otter it seems to be buying coffee he doesn't enjoy.

Re: Monday 4.27

What I find amusing is that this is just another great case of a blogger (you) breaking a story and the local media quickly jumps on the bandwagon once they realize it'll get some clicky-play, and of course, the only outlet to acknowledge that it came from a blogger was the best media outlet, the Boise Weekly.

For all the complaining and griping journalists have about bloggers they sure love to use us as a springboard for a story.

Re: Monday 4.27

lol.
