While what happened to you is terrible, and the person who did it got what he deserves. You have to look at this in another spectrum. Your story and what happened here are two different things.

If you expect a man, let alone anybody, sit there and let you physically abuse them (as the article states) you're crazy. If you want to act like a man, you will get treated like a man. If you don't want to get hit by a man, don't hit a man. It's a simple concept.

I don't support the hitting of women, I do however support you defending yourself. Even if it means defending yourself from a woman.

If this has become a constant theme with this person (as you have claimed). I'm curious to know where the father of this 8yo child is. If her mother is constantly in these types of relationships the welfare of the child needs to be looked at. I don't know how much psychological damage see your mom and random father figure constantly fighting will do to a child. I can assure you that it is going to be good on them.

Here is the big problem. Women want to be treated the same, remember when you guys fought for equal rights? Guess what....If you are going to hit like a man, you're going to get treated like a man.

Personally I have never struck a female, also I have never been in his situation. However, if a female comes at me swinging for whatever reason, I will do everything in my power to protect myself. That is my right as a citizen of the United States.

Also, just so you know. If somebody threatens you enough and you can prove that you feared for you safety at the time. You can strike them and claim self defense, that type of abuse is called Verbal Assault. Remember you just have to prove that the threats and gestures made you fear for your safety.

I'm sorry, am I making you feel small? Are you getting upset by somebody who is typing words? I think you need to take maybe a 1 to 2 day break away from the computer. If you're getting that upset over something, as it is quite clear you are, you should probably go outside and take down your Christmas lights. We don't need another one of those homes with all their lights still on the house in the middle of March.

A few things you might want to learn, seeing as how you have never had a job where you would of traveled for work.

The $750 a month they gave up is for local travel...IE to Olympia. They get a flat amount to cover it. So lets so for 3 months they didn't travel anywhere. We as tax payers still payed out $2250 for them in travel expenses.

Now as you have assumed they would have to use that money also if they had to go to "Washington D.C." This is infact where you're wrong. A trip like that would payed for by the county. Any money they spend of their own they would get back. It's called an expense report, you should look it up.

Also nowhere did I say that the previous set of commissioners should have received it and the current set shouldn't. In fact it's money that they shouldn't have gotten in the first place. That's the whole point.

This move by them is more of a budget trimming move than a salary cut. Remember that money was to be used for local travel. How on earth can you justify $9,000 a year on local travel.

First things first. You can only recall for each district. So we will use Angie as an example.

First thing you want to do is find somebody out there who is willing to run in the recall election. As soon as you find that person you should then go out and start getting the signatures needed (I think the number was 5,000.)

Once you them you and turn them in. Again this is something that is required by law for the county to pay for. So you can bet your bottom dollar that in her new campaign she is going to tell the voters how much money you're "wasting."

The chances of you winning the recall depends on who the person is. I mean it's pretty clear that you would have all the people who support the Sheriff Office behind you. I don't remember exactly how many votes she won by (somebody said something like 60.)

Either way, the goal should be to oust one of them HPJ or Angie. I feel bad for Dean, he seems to be the only one there that gets the bigger picture. Who knows where this will lead. I just hope that is just goes to prove that cause you think a "Change" will happen, doesn't always mean the change will be for the good.

This type of information is what you need to provide if you were going to try and hold a recall election. That she is in fact pushing through things for people who supported her.

Remember some of these programs that aren't getting cut at all, they do have payed people in them. So of course they will shell out some money to keep their job. After all if the person who they want to win gets elected they can get even more money.

I'm the one lying....Sorry to say but if you cut something out of your salary and are no longer being paid for it...you don't have to pay taxes on it.

In fact even if they did it as a reimbursement (which they should have done in the first place) you wouldn't have to pay taxes on it. You know it's a thing called business expense.

Actually you're trying to spin the information into making it seem like they cut their salary by 10% when in fact they didn't.

The $750 is something they get to cover their travel expenses. I don't know about you but $750 a month to travel around the island is a pretty large number. In fact here is a simple problem for you to think out. Lets say their car gets 25mpg, and at $3/gal for gas that $750 is = to roughly 6500 miles.

So you have to ask yourself are they really driving 6500 miles? To give others an idea of how long that is. You could drive across the country, and back, and then 4/5th the way back across the country again.

Now sure you may say it's for when they go out and have to stay the night someplace blah blah blah. They might be gone for a weekend blah blah blah. However the fact remains that they still got the $750 if they just went from home to work.

So I fail to see how cutting 10% of their salary when it was something like that is a noble cause, as they and their supporters are making it out to be.

Oh and lastly. You say she gave up her company car. Lets remember that they got this $750 a month on these company cars. So they weren't even putting miles in on their own cars. Yeah looks like a real budget cut right there.

They didn't cut their own pay by 10%. I Think you should stick to pretending more like you know all about football rather than what's going on in our local political front.

In fact each post you make seems to just try to make others upset, which you may do. However what's so sad is the fact that while you're sitting at your desk eating your Cheetos and spilling crumbs all over your keyboard. There are people out there that don't care what you have to say. Infact they could care less to what you say at all.

Every single word you type is like you just threw up. It makes no actual sense, and when people put together well thought out replies you have no response to them. Or if you somehow manage to form a logical thought you end up just repeating yourself over and over again. Yet what you're repeating has already been proven to be wrong.

If you did everybody who comments and or reads these posts a favor. Take the time to actually read everything. When you post something, double check the facts you're putting in them. Just because on Fantasy Island with your sidekick Tattoo, you think they might be right. Doesn't mean they are right in the real world.

Chances are this post won't get read by many. You will get to upset by how little it makes you look and how inferior your actual intelligence on this issue is, and report it.

Infact. If I'm not mistaken your screen name is of that of Gerry Oliver. You could spearhead the campain to get the recall vote going and I'm almost 100% that you would get elected.

Just remember; the things that the majority of the people use, the majority should pay for...however the things the minority use, the majority shouldn't pay for. If you like it so much then fund it yourself. If you can't then find something else to like.

You're missing the whole point of what I'm and along with everybody else is saying. It's nice to have these roleplay games and all that. However the fact remains that it should be for things that will actually happen. I mean do you really think that out of any of the "what ifs" you have listed that only that man can do the job?

That's the whole point of this. If you're able to keep two police officers on the job protecting the streets, vs a man who spends 90% of his day doing nothing but waiting around for an earthquake to happen. You would be a fool if you kept him.

You seem to forget that this town rallies around itself in a time of need. I remember a few years back when Mt. Vernon needed people to help fill sandbags to try to keep the river back. I was amazed at how many people from Oak Harbor I saw there.

So I have no doubt that if there was a tsunami to hit and wipe out 25% of the island, that there would just be plain old people down there with shovels and water. Or if there was an earthquake and the road to the bridge caved in, there would be be hundreds of people out there helping move the debris.

If you really feel that this man is the only person in the world who could organize those volunteers, well I don't know what to say to you but you're in fact wrong. Almost anybody could do his job, so why not have somebody already in the police force do it and save the broke county some money.

Nobody is personally attacking him and saying he isn't doing his job. It's just the time frame we are in right now with all these budget problems, we have to look at what to cut and what to keep. Sadly his job is one that should be cut.

So if the two mountains did erupt the ash cloud in 100% honesty, wouldn't even be 1ft. The great part about where we live is the breeze. The wind would push the ash cloud away from the island. If you don't believe me just look at this map:

Also, as for the Ft. Hood shootings. What do you really think the Emergancy Manager is going to do??? Go onto the base and handle things??? Of course not. The people who will be helping will be ICSO, OHPD, OFD.

Your examples are so bad that how anybody could take them serious, simply shows the lack of thought people are putting into what they are reading.

Like others have said, this isn't going to make or break the island. With or without this we will survive. However when you start reducing the police force so a person whose job is to deal with the "what ifs" is simply idiotic.

If people are going to use examples of a natural disaster, then try to say oh well I'm talking about if an earthquake hit. They don't deserve to serve the public in anyway shape or form. Use an example of something that has a chance of happening here.

Lets also not forget that it was slow reaction from the national government not the local or state government that led to all the problems. So by having this whole department are we going to be sure that the national government will be ready to respond. I mean when you have the Gov. of Louisiana asking for help and they don't come right away, what makes you think some random guy is going to get heard?

Also you should probably try to re-read my post. No where did I say 800-100 families would be displaced. This is a typical word play by people who are trying evoke fear into making others believe their cause or point of view.

Right now you're playing the what-if game. If you really wish to live your life that way then so be it. However if you're going to play the game then lets make it extreme. What if Aliens came down and started to blow up the island and everything, or what about if the ice caps all melted and the whole island flooded. Or what if we got 17ft of snow and people were stuck indoors. How about if the Chinese Army invades.

I mean get real. Your scenarios are just so far fetched that they aren't even possible. Yes everybody on the island knows that if a major earth quake happens that the bridge could go. Did you also know that after every earth quake the bridge and water towers all inspected to make sure everything is alright? Also do you notice how well maintained the bridge is, it gets a new coat of paint on it how often?

Also do you really think that somebody out of all the cities in the US is going to pick Oak Harbor to walk into a store and spread poison on food. If so, ask yourself this question. What on earth is the Emergancy Manger going to do? The answer is nothing.

I can't tell if this is sarcasm or not, but if it is it's a pretty poor attempt at it. Just like I don't get the point of your post. Are you trying to say we need him by coming up with ridiculous scenarios or are you pointing out that we have gotten along just fine with out one for the past 60+ years.

I will just throw this out there, that if the sides to the pass caved in, he wouldn't do anything. First people to respond will either be WSP, ICSO, or the Park Ranger. Second people out there will probably be Island County Road crews trying to clean it up. I'm sure as soon as they get some people out here, WSDOT will be here as well.

What do we need him for? Is he going to be out there directing traffic? Is he going to be the one who is patrolling around while all this is going on? The answer is no. He will probably get on his speaker and say the bridge is closed...even still most people will hear about it through either word of mouth or this website right here.

I hate to say this but him and his department are worthless. You can pay me and my friends half of what you pay him and his buddies, and you will get the same level of qualifications and nobody in the Island would know the difference.

I would just like to say that if a person came to me to beg for them to keep their job and used these words, "The inexperience in management will lead to a Katrina-type scenario if there’s a disaster." I would laugh at him for showing his inexperience in geography and question his qualifications right there.

First: The whole disaster following Hurricane Katrina WOULD NEVER HAPPEN HERE EVER UNLESS THE WORLD WAS ENDING. The water is to cold for a hurricane to form, and there aren't any levies protecting the entire island. So the whole island flooding, as was the case with Hurricane Katrina, simply wouldn't happen here.

Second: If you want to prep for anything it would be a tsunami. Even then it would only be on the West side of the island. So the impact would probably be in the neighborhood of 800-1000. Even then like they teach you in school, if you see water getting sucked back into the sound you need to run away. With the terrain that this island has, and for it to be catastrophic it would have to be a 250ft+ wave. The off-shore terrain simply wouldn't support a wave that big and it would crash on itself before it even hit land.

Now for the recall:

If the info I gathered is correct you need to do the following:

You can't do all three as one. You have to go by each district they "serve." If you get enough signatures on a petition, you hand it in. Granted it will probably take a while for it to be heard cause they have cut the budget there so much, but it when it does you will get your recall. You better find somebody who you know won't make the same mistakes.

Oh and you can hire me for $25,000 to sit at my house and do nothing and have the label as Emergency Service Director.

You do realize that pre-season rankings mean nothing right? They still have to go out there and play the game.

If they feel that they should be ranked higher, then they should take that out on to the court with them. Also when you're at the bottom there is only one place to go...just like when you're at the top there is only one place to go.

If people are serious about this, this right here is something that you would bring up.

If you can find a connection between them and this organization, then you would have your case needed for a recall vote.

When you pay out more than 5x in salaries than you do projects something is wrong. They aren't doing this so that they can get more money to help a good cause. They are doing this so a select few individuals are able make more money.

I will call the Island County Auditors office tomorrow and ask them exactly what would be needed. I will post that information here. If somebody wants to take it from there, best of luck to them.

I'm sure it will be easy to get signatures.

Your best bet would be to call the Island County Auditors office tomorrow and see how many signatures are needed. Then go from there.

I'm sure the information that you would garner from them will be more exact than what I have.

It really depends.

Now if one of them decided to put their home on the market after all of that was done. You would have a strong case.

When you show up with all your signatures you can have a list of reasons. However lucky for the judge only needs one of them to grant a recall election.
