In the office where I work, we have had 35 in the last 3 years, and out of those 35 our Boss hasn't fired one. A lot of the CCA'S tell management what they are going to do and they do it. But when they are promoted and go to another office, it's a different Ball Game. I have been a trainer or a OJI for the last 25 years, and you can tell usually in the first couple of hours if they have it or not, and most of the time I'm right, I would of kept maybe 5 out of 35. In the office I work at, there is only 3 hours of walking in the whole office, so you here a lot of the CCA'S say, if I knew the job was this easy, they would of applied many years ago, I just laugh and walk away. Most of the Regular carriers with routes in the office has at least 15 years, but most have over 20 years, and 10 of the carriers have over 30 years, needless to say, we have all done our walking and been in bad neighborhoods. What the USPS needs to do, is start everyone Walking if possible, so they see this Job is not as easy as some might think, and as for the new carriers, if you want to make it a career, listen to people that have been there for a while, they will give you advice on how to do things, remember you are the Future.

Just one example where a CCA should have been fired, this CCA was doing 85- 90MPH weaving in and out of traffic on 1-95, and this CCA happen to pass a Postal Inspector, who was driving 90-95MPH to catch up to him, once he did, he followed this CCA back to the office and asked him why he was driving so fast, there was no response, then asked for the Drivers License, and the CCA didn't have, left it home. Guess what happen, NOTHING, because our Boss was told to handle it,

Shocking, you don't have to be a Einstein to figure out there is a PROBLEM, when it takes 4 days for a piece of mail to go 10 miles.

Give it a few years and that will change, if you see what the USPS is hiring in the last 18 months, workman's Comp claims will be going up, a lot of these new CCA's are not physically fit, quite a few are obese. When they hire these carriers, who ever is hiring them, doesn't look for the future when a lot of these carriers will be walking 7 hours a day. In the office I work, we have 3 of them over 300 pounds, and it's a office of either driving or cluster boxes, no walking. I don't have a problem of how much you weigh or don't weigh, if you can do the job great, but where the Post Office screws up is, that you should send all the carriers walking first, to see if they can do the job, I would say a lot of them can, but there will be some that wont be able to do it. So when they get promoted to full time and get assigned a walking route, they will own the USPS, because the can't do the job because they are not fit for the job in 90-100 degree heat.

In my office when another office needs help, and it's a walking office, they don't sent the Heavy Weights because they know they can't do it, so they send the fit carriers all the time, and that has led to grievances
